Congrats on landing your new apartment! The loft is a really tight squeeze and I think trying to make the bed a canopy is going to make the room feel even smaller. How does the second person get in and out of the bed? Do you have room under the bed for storage?

I would keep the room as simple as possible, maybe put a tall storage unit, like Ikea sells, for your clothing and shoes. If there is space, find a nightstand with drawers to put by the side of the bed plus find a lamp as well. Just a few suggestions. It must be heaven to finally be in a home, God bless you.
