Need advice on flooring type

We have a guest room that we want to convert to an office/guest/workout room and it's time to replace the builder-grade carpet. The flooring outside the room is a dark engineered hardwood (distressed maple). What flooring options should we consider for inside the room. I've already tried to locate more of the flooring we have (the extra boxes we have are not enough to do the entire room) but have had no luck as it has long since been discontinued. We do not want carpet in that room due to the office and workout use. We are considering a wood look tile in a lighter shade than the main area wood floors. Waterproof or resistant vinyl plank floors are also something we are considering, but I'm concerned that the thickness is not enough to sit flush with the wood floors. Is it best to go with a different type altogether like tile, or is the wood-look tile not a good idea for a bedroom-type space?
