Looks like Sansevieria cylindrica to me. It's far from gone. Has it been outdoors? What else is growing in the pot? Can that be removed? Perhaps there's slug damage? If so, treat for slugs.

Nothing wrong with plant except it's sun burned. I think Dave is right that it has been outside a very long time.

I know Sansevieria has been placed into Dracaena but I don't accept or recognize it.

id start by tipping it out of the pot.. and see whats going on in there...

i suspect little to no media.. leading to watering issues.. leading to one ugly plant ...

if so.. i probably hack it apart .. [i would not worry about being gentle...] .....and propagate some clean new pieces... and get rid of excess .. like about 60% of it ...

no one learned anything by not trying ...

Thank you all! this was very helpful as I couldn't find any pictures of this kind of damage anywhere to compare.

I was hoping it was just sun damage and I could use it to propagate healthier plants as I've always wanted one of these.

The other plant is a purple oxalis and I'll definitely have them in separate pots if the oxalis can be saved too. I think the poor plant was just sitting outside in a porch and no one cared for it ever. It's now indoors waiting for me to have time to take it apart and start anew - I didn't want to propagate any diseases :)

And yes, I do agree Sansevieria cylindrica is a better name for it!
