It's a gorgeous plant, IMHO, but is usually considered a weed because it aggressively spreads via seeds. I don't always have the heart to pull it though, one never knows when one might run into a toilet paper shortage, don't we all know!!

@l pinkmountain Its been dropping its yellow flowers alot of the 2-3 weeks. where are the seeds located? Or is those yellow petals the seeds??

It will create seed pods a little bit like snapdragon. The pods are filled with dark brown seeds, sort of like pepper or poppyseeds. The pods dry out and snap open and the seeds scatter later in the fall. I read online that it is biannual which I did not know. I have one more. This started growing wildly in a area I cleaned off and I decided to let it becasue I think it may be a baby dogwood.?? Thoughts on what it could be?

Not a dogwood. Compare to Verbesina virginica.

The leaves have winged petioles. They aren't perfoliate. I'm assuming the blooms look like this when viewed close up.

Jay, got you a close up, It seems they are taking forever to open up or is this the way they look?

Oops. I was wrong. It's really Pluchea odorata. More colorful. I don't think the buds will ever fully open. But they are pretty. The flower buds were so white in the previous pic, how strange.

Randy, if your last plant smells like camphor, compare to Pluchea camphorata also. That last pic is so pretty!

Tiffany, I think it's probably camphorata because of the lesser amount of pubescence( the involucres are not covered in fur), and the larger flower clusters. Of course odorata also has a camphor smell, so that's not helpful. Odorata is the default pluchea like Boneset is a default for any unknown plant with white flowers. 🤣

Happy to try to help your investigation but I think Jay provided the most helpful info. One of these showed up in my mom's garden once but I've never seen another. I would welcome more. Are you seeing bees, butterflies, &/or hummingbirds visiting your plant?

@ Tiffany The plant is kinda far from where I am active but when I go by I only see orange wasps on them. Never seen a hummingbird or butterfly.

Have another plant ID, My mom gave me some of this and its evassive IMO. Anybody know whats its called?

Variegated Solomon’s Seal. Polygonatum odoratum'Variegatum'. Evasive? No. But somewhat invasive.

I think you should start a new discussion for the pretty new bluish purple plant with a closer pic of the bloom and a leaf if possible.

Randy, it's Salvia nemorosa.

I am assuming this is salvia too? I was thinking its the same as above but the salvia above has a much darker bloom and the foilage is darker too. This one has ligher blooms and foilage but is alot taller than other salvia. Is it the same just in a differnt soil??

At first I thought it was Salvia, but at closer look it appears to be Basil, Ocimum basilicum . Maybe Lemon Basil. Go crush and smell a leaf. Definitely Basil flower spikes.

It does have a strong armona. Salvia doesnt have a scent correct? I think you may be right Jay.

Back to Salvias. Many of them are scented including, obviously, Salvia officinalis, culinary Sage.
