I hired a designer from Houzz who designed a very nice bathroom for me. As result I decided to give her recommended contractor a try rather than my usual guy. Her contractor took over six months to complete bathroom. I finally fired him because at 6 months my knee wall on shower was not plumb which I told him three months before. Cut out for my whirlpool was not large enough. Shower floor slope was such that it has a significant whole at the drain. And the list goes on. The designer initially stated that she would help me see the project through and collected initial checks for contractor and also accepted full payment for cabinets. Later designer announced that I was project manager and blamed me for all delays and did mot hold contractor responsible for any of the construction errors or delays. In the end, contractor was paid over 2/3 for a job not completed. Designer was paid 100 percent in May for cabinets still not delivered. Cabinets were supposed to be delivered 6 weeks from May 15 order date and now stretched out to sept 1. I am extremely stressed bc I think this will be botched as well and designer refuses to cancel. I am in Tampa FL. Anyone with advice please.
