This is a pattern by Judy Martin. I wanted to use strips I had already cut, and this used up a sizeable amount of my 1-1/2" strips! I also made scrappy binding to use up binding pieces left over from other projects.

The pattern sizes given are 5 X 5 wall size and 8 X 8 queen size. I wanted to make a sofa size so started with the wall size and added a row, making it 5 X 6. Of course, then I had to recalculate the length of the mitered borders and figure out how many more strips were needed for the long borders.

Also, the simple log cabin blocks gave me fits. I was making all 15 of them at once and they were getting very wonky. I ended up ripping them all out to the center squares and starting over, measuring and squaring after every log was added. They still aren't perfect, but much better than they were!

This is for our friend who always takes care of our kitties when we travel. I hope she likes it! :)
