bluestone on second floor deck

I would love to be able to put bluestone on flooring if my 2nd story porch. We have finished patio underneath How did you prep the floor and did you need steel beams for weight? I don’t want to use trex after seeing this picture. Decking is built already it is actually a 2nd story covers Patio would live some info on how you finished his project.

    Good morning Lisa,

This was a new structure so I was able to design the structure from the start and it was pressure treated lumber (not my first choice as this was a large space, wanted to do steel but builder did not). also we did an underdeck drainage system along with a structural plastic grid support system for the stone. There is another product out there I think called stone deck east and they have a kit format that may work for you. Everything will depend on what you have existing and if it will need upgrading for the additional weight.

First pic is my bottom level so ceiling not finished yet l. Wanted to make sure no water issues before it’s finished and for many years it’s been dry. The upper porch has a rubber roofing material on it now because we were going to use sleepers and then put down trex or wood. Hoping that would keep bottom porch dry. Would you recommend bluestone or would you use trex the last pic is flooring with rubber roofing
I am hoping you can give me some suggestions as to how to finish this space or if there is something new out there that would work and look best.
Thank you for answering my question so fast and look forward to hearing any suggestions

    very nice house!

You could use either but with the stone material I would lean towards the porcelain products as they are only about 3/4" thick so will not be as heavy (this will need to be checked structurally if the existing "I" joists can support the weight). here is a company that has some really nice options (look at the roof deck section) https://www.tiletechpavers.com/

the pavers will need to be installed using pedestal system. I would say if you want the stone and it will work and the cost is in you budget I would do it as it will look really nice!
