Carol is correct. I've seen it many times, but it has never been as pink as what you encountered. That's actually pretty, as opposed to "ghostly" white, which is all I've ever seen here. After researching a bit, I found that in addition to the white and pink types, there's even a dark red variant.

After a few prolonged dry spells in spring and early summer, we are getting ample moisture over the past couple weeks, including 3+ inches today. I expect to see all kinds of mushrooms and other unusual stuff like Indian Pipe popping up in the woods and adjacent woodland garden mulch.
