Any reason why you think it is NOT a poinsettia? If grown in the ground in a suitable climate - and South Florida would be - these will grow into a small tree as much as 12-15' tall.

It sure looks like a poinsettia to me. At 10-12 feet it wouldn't even be the largest I've seen. In subtropical/tropical climates, poinsettias WANT to be trees. The fact that other plants near it still had red bracts is another clue. But...sometimes near the equator poinsettias don't bloom reliably, because the bloom cycle is initiated by difference in day length, which may not be dramatic enough at those latitudes. I would say that in this case, it's just that the individual plant didn't "feel it" this past winter, lol.

I think i saw E. heterophylla in a few places in the garden (this is in Homestead FL, so very far south). they all had sparse leaves and red bracts still. but this one is different, pretty dense leaves and bark looked different. and leaves very differently cut. i don’t know..

i don’t see images of such leaves on poinsettias, i searched.

i’ll be there in the fall and then we’ll see if there are bracts..the attendants wouldn’t know, but i’ll ask.
