We are Jandy dealers and they have a dimming relay for lights. Only on white lights not colored. I would think Pentair has the same capability.

I figured out that the light we are getting is a 100 watt light. I don't know if that makes a difference or not but my understanding is that the lower voltage lights are not dimmable. I know nothing about electricity so this is all greek to me. Thanks!

We have not installed traditional incandescent lights in about 14 years. We have been installing Jandy's 12V, nicheless lights. They are 12V and have 3 wattage sizes. The white lights are dimmable through a relay on a Jandy RS system. The watercolors are not.

The advantage to these lights is they are set in multiple points to prevent as little shadows as possible and provide a more even illumination. The lens size is approx an 1 1/4" in diameter.

Pentair has a similar model to Jandy's.

I would suggest this type.

Reviewing the EASYTOUCH CONTROL SYSTEM 8 AND 4 FOR POOL AND SPA USER’S GUIDE, I see nothing that indicates that the control system can dim any light. Starting on page 18 there are descriptions of the various ways that lights can be controlled (depending on the type of lights installed) but nothing states that any light can be dimmed.

If you install a pool light containing a 120-volt dimmable bulb (incandescent or LED), perhaps you can wire a dimmer between the control system and the light. The control system would turn the light on and off but you'd use the dimmer to set the brightness.

Do you really need that $3000+ fancy-pants control system?

It is my understanding the app won't let you dim the lights. We aren't going to have colored led's, just white lights. I'm content w/dimming them w/a switch - the old fashioned way - if that is the only way to do it. I just want them to be dimmable. Thanks!

That's all in the Users Guide linked above. The control system has no ability to dim the lights.

I spoke w/Pentaire and they said they do have a plain white LED that is dimmable. Hooray!

The light is dimmable. Can the Control System dim the light? The User Guide doesn't say it can.
