Gas or propane fueled fire pits produce no smoke. I've spec'd a few for clients and they are common here on restaurant patios.

My sister has a solo stove and it is great. No smoke.

We've done Breeo firepits for a few clients. They work great, the one note I got from one client is not to go too big. He opted for the largest built-in one they offer and I guess the whole unit needs to get hot enough to recombust the smoke, so it devours firewood coming up to temperature.

Ours is Natural Gas for the very reasons you mention
