The second combo is prettier; I don't like the penny rounds with the first floor option. If you go that route, consider a small hex for the shower floor.

I agree with a lot of the above, but I’d put the pretty tile on the floor and the penny in the shower. That’s very similar to what I did in a guest bathroom. I love the blue in the second tile, but they’re both pretty.

Penny tile in the shower - is grout that stain and mildew proof now? Even just ordinary cleaning would seem to be more work with those. Asking because I have a bath re-do in my future.

I like the 2nd tile shown, it looks more elegant ❣️ There are many Houzz discussions on the use of penny tile: they are difficult to grout evenly due to their small size, and a very experienced tiler, who has worked with penny tile, should be chosen to install them. Ask to see pictures of the tilers work too❣️

Good points, I think a hex might be the way to go with either tile combo. i have that in 2 bathrooms in our home.

I would typically do patterned tile on floor but the space is very small so I don‘t want to break up the floor/shower pan into 2 areas.

I like the second combo. No reason, just personal preference.

Either one should work, however the top one might appeal to all genders more.
