This machine seems to be a basic machine that threads the way that most do. It is likely to be very much like the rest of the old machines.

By the way, that thing of top of it with the lever is used to control the amount of pressure that the feed dog puts on the fabric.

As to the value of it....probably not much.

It is as cute as it can be, though, and you would need to find those few people who would want it because of that. Sometimes finding that rare person who wants it badly enough to give you a good price for something is more trouble than it is worth.

“Worth” anything? It’s worth only what someone will pay.

If it works ok, IMO it might be worth $25 or so to someone who needs a simple machine.

Some of the older metal machines are extremely sturdy and can sew through things they shouldn't so they are sometimes favored by people who make costumes or outdoor gear.

They still aren't worth much because there are a lot of them out there but they are still very useful (unless you want to do fancy stuff. Or computerized stuff.).

I just read this posting. Yes, the older metal machines are extremely sturdy and can sew through things that some newer ones cannot. These older metal machines are becoming rare. Ask a sewing machine repair shop for parts as some have an archive .

Why you may ask..... there is not much interest in home sewing unless you are a crafter/hobbyist or sew as 'business'. Ready made clothing and curtains for example is cheap ( slave labor, etc.)

Another point. Sewing repair people are hard to find. So in some areas of the U.S. it is 'word of mouth' and you may have to drive some distance. Some of the shops have these 'older' machines ( refurbished/restored) and cannot keep them in stock. Well working older Viking are selling for up to $500. Keep this in mind that the advertisers of the on line /cheaper sewing machines say they are "metal" - well maybe the Presser foot is...... or how about the metal rivets they use instead of adjusting screws??? Support your Sewing Machine Shop and the people who repair and sell the New and Used sewing machines.

A well running older sewing machine is worth it’s weight in gold. I would buy a machine like this before anything made in the last 10 years. Would be great for a beginner, no frustrations.

Hm....what's 45 pounds of gold worth in the current market? :)
