Molding on a wall with Knockdown/orange peel

Has anyone here ever installed molding boxes on a wall with knockdown aka ”orange peel” texture? If so, could you please share a photo here and do you like it up close and personal? I am trying to make a decision about whether install it on my TV wall. No, I am not interested in smoothing out my wall. Below is a photo of the wall (its hard to see the texture in the photo) and a photo of the proposed molding.

What are you trying to accomplish by installing the moldings? Are you just looking for interest on the wall without it becoming too busy? You can do moldings on a slightly textured wall, but I don't see those moldings working with the style of your home. You have such clean lines. I'd consider putting a tall, interesting floor lamp to the left of the tv, and a simple tall shelving unit or closed storage armoire on the right side. Or extend your console with a second one next to it with large artwork above. You might also consider soft white drapes to frame your beautiful view.

Moldings like you show read much more traditional in tone than your lovely contemporary home, so I wouldn't do that...just my opinion, of course. I also think that mounting your TV above the console (like in your drawing) will make it too high for comfortable and optimal viewing. I love the console or credenza that you have, but I think even that is higher than it should be for the TV. I would go with a longer, lower piece, put the TV on top at one end and a colorful painting/artwork mounted above on the other side, much like calidesign's 2nd photo. I would use that piece that you have in another space: foyer, DR, or on the wall facing the window (if there is a wall). You have a beautiful room...enjoy!

Moldings look nice with modern, I like your idea. I’ve always had orange peel walls and have had moldings in each home — installation isn’t a problem at all.

Thank you @calidesign @decorpatti Yes I do just want more "design" involved on the wall, without cluttering it. Im probably going to remove the tables that I have there. I dont love them. I like a mixture of organic "collected" looking pieces and I guess contemporary. I wanted something transitional, simple and clean. Thats a new wall, we closed in a bedroom. So i feel like I need to DO something with it - lol. A leather couch wasnt our first choice but its functional because of kids and comfort (recliners) so I have to work with it. @Jilly Thanks so much, its helpful that you have the molding up and are happy with it.
