What's the forecast for next week?

If your around to water put them in the ground. It's nearly the last week of August and while still hot the days have gotten shorter and the sun is less intense.

Very hot and humid for the next week. 90+ degrees every day.

pot them all in one pot.. full shade ... wet media to start with ..

plant after mid sept in our midwest ...

a good theme to live by.. is not to plant anything in august in the midwest ... cant lose with that rule ...

you arent a real gardener.. until you have 100 pots to plant in fall ... lol

btw.. its not day temps that are important.. its cool nights .. a recovery period to offset the day ...

Rookie question but can you explain “wet media”? Bro is still fully contemplating it all but he has dug some up already

Damp soil around the roots.

a common newb error.. is potting a plant with dry media... and then trying to moisten it all afterwards ...

done properly... you moisten your media... pot the plant .. then water to settle the media into the pot ...

i learned the hard way ... when weeks later.. some plants were struggling ...so i unpotted.. and found the center of the glob of media ... where the roots were... was bone dry because the water was pooling on top and then running down the sides ... the result being.. i bought better media ... and moistened it first ...

in this case.. since you are doing it in august... i went a step further and told you to use WET media ...

back in the day.. when i was potting 100 pots.. i would pull out the old kiddie pool .... throw the bale in there.. break it all down.. decompress it .. with rake.. grape stompin feet ... etc.. and then spend a few days wetting it all ...

and the reason i made sure to buy dry bales... was because they were lighter to get in and out of the car/truck ... a bale with 5 gals of water in it .. was 35 pounds heavier.. and that was a pia ...

its one little trick that when someone answers they forget to tell a newb ... because its so ingrained.. i watch for those things we all might do by rote.. and forget to point out ... its the tricks of the trade.. if you will ...
