It looks about right..but honestly with the slanted ceiling I would have hung sconces instead of over head lighting.

If you have a flat celing in the stairscase that is where the chandelier should go…I would change its location and add sconces.

IMO pretty useless lighting for a foyer Edison bulbs are crappy light to beginn with then the fact you are not lighting the foyer but the ceiling and the fixture is too small.

The height is not the problem…..it appears the fixture is completely undersized for the space.

I agree with you that it's a bit too high. If there is still enough wire to lower it so that it's approximately 7 feet from the floor, that would be ideal. Standard is 7-7.5 feet from the floor.

Thank you all for your comments. I do have extra wire to lower the fixture. I do like the fixture, but also feel it's undersized - too late now. My decorator is who picked the size :-( I have to do something to make it work. Perhaps if lowered and when other things are in the foyer it will be better? The house is under construction so no rugs, no artwork, not even the front door handle is installed. Does that change anyone's view? Thank you again.

I also agree: that light fixture is way too small for that large space. The light looks awkward hanging from the slanted ceiling. Can you hang this fixture from a flat ceiling elsewhere in the house? I also think sconces would be more functionally and aesthetically appropriate.

I like the fixture although I agree it's undersized and hung too high. Is there anywhere else in the house you need something like this so you could move it and get something different for the foyer - maybe over the stairs, or in a hallway? If not, just lower it. And you're right, when everything else is done it will look different and not stand out. If that's the biggest mistake you have in a brand new house you will be in great shape!

Thank you. Unfortunately, I also bought a lot of other lighting fixtures that are already hung and this fixture was quite expensive. I will lower it and see what happens when the rest of the foyer items are in place. I'm disappointed. I may have to consider it in the future. I appreciate the comments and suggestions.

The size is fine for that area it really is just the slant on the ceiling….I would paint the ceiling cap the ceiling paint color so you visually only see the chain..I think it would really help if keeping it..don’t go any lower it really should be no lower than 7 and a half feet from floor to bottom of light…your home is lovely! Enjoy.

Thank you! I will definitely consider that. Currently the fixture is quite a bit higher than 7.5 ft from the floor, so I still think it needs to be lower. I’ll have to check that. We don’t live there yet - it’s 3 hours away from us, which has made some of these decisions challenging.
