I don't love it, but think it will be fine since you don't really see the new addition from the rest of the home. Can you not match what is in the laundry room?

I can't get my current floor any longer, which is a wood look tile. I did find this laminate that is pretty close, but I also didn't want it to look like I tried to match and have it be obvious that it's different and look worse than just going with something completely different. (And I didn't put these dark floors in the house. They would not have been my first choice)

Honestly, I would use carpet in the new addition. If you can’t match it is may look off. You have beautiful dark tile floors that they don’t make anymore. If you bring in a new material like carpet it wouldn’t stop the flow of the house as much.

How about a tile that doesn't try to look like wood? I believe that would look better than two wood looks that don't match.

I didn’t realize this new room has slidders going off to the pool. This changes my thinking. You can mix woods as long as they have the same undertones in it. I think the dark and light look good together as long as they have the same undertones. I love the flooring that you have chosen. It would be fun to decorate around. I can kind of visualize the look you want and I say go for it!

Use a flooring that you love and don't worry about matching the floor in rest of the house which you would not have chosen anyway. It's perfectly fine to set your family room off as its own space and there are lots of beautiful designs in laminate and tiles.
