Are you thinking of punching a door through from inside, opposite to the current wall? Or from another wall? Concrete blocks can be cut for doors, but it would be easier to go through wood framing.

Yes and yes. Basically anything so my kids dont have to go outside and get eaten by bugs or laundry get rained. Just want access from the inside. I thought along those same lines. Opening up my room that joins the Laundry room. We called numerous contractors and all seem to come up with the same...55k not counting/considering the structure engineer, planner and every Tom Rick and harry that wants a chunk out of my money. I said forget it, considering that I bought my house for 110k and to knock down a wall or cement a wall to enclose it would be almost half of the cost of the house???!!!

If the estimates are all the same $55K, there must be considerably more work involved than putting a door in a non-loadbearing wall (which is what I'd have been hoping in your shoes). Have you already checked to see if the house plans are on file at City Hall that may show what's behind the interior wall?

Here's a possibility: How about building a covered pathway or fully enclosed lanai-hallway from the house back door to the laundry door?

No, I haven't checked with the city plans. I've been at his for 2 yrs, it took less time to get a mortgage, get approved, find a house and move in. At this point I think it's just easier to look for a house with an indoor laundry room. Thanks for your help.
