Help with backsplash—LG Soprano

I'm struggling here. The kitchen is more earthy (dark brown ikea askersund cabinets and sage grey/green walls) so I'm hesitant to get the taupe (top, large tile) because it really highlights the greys in the counter.

What color looks best? Below the taupe is vanilla, then ivory, then chantilly biscuit. Thanks for any help!

I think the vanilla is beautiful. The chantilly biscuit looks a bit pink on my screen.

Vanilla or ivory. I love the size of the taupe & vanilla the best.

    1st Vanilla, 2nd Taupe

ivory is so stark against the counter and biscuit looks pinkish.

i like the size of the taupe, but it depends on the overall scale of actual kitchen and b/s area.

Vanilla is a nice subtle flow. The ivory is more contrast. I like both. Are the cabinets the same color as the floor or darker? Don't do the biscuit. Looks way pink to me.

The biscuit doesn’t go. I think the vanilla is perfect.

I agree about the vanilla. What is the floral tile in the picture?

    Vanilla.

Thanks everyone! The flowery tile was a possible accent with the biscuit—it does look too red/pink to me. Husband nixed the ivory, he thinks it would stand out too much. im thinking the vanilla but it’s the more expensive option ($10/sq ft). Heres a photo of the kitchen (at night and not yet complete) but it gives some idea of what else is going on. very dark cabinets (ikea askersund) and ”soft fern” walls with a natural oak floor.

Another option: ivory glass? this is 3x9, so is the vanilla. the taupe is quite large—4.25 x 13 or so, which im also afraid is too large, its not a big space ( just an 18 inch strip, were not going around the window or anything).

    Rest of kitchen

Vanilla. Keep in mind that glass tiles look different once they’re installed (and require an experienced-with-glass tiler.). You have a small amount of backsplash and while the vanilla is the most expensive, it’s worth the money. “Do it once, do it right.” Best remodeling help I ever got. So far, your kitchen is terrific!

thanks, RedRyder! You are right. Had no idea about the glass. Husband and FIL are experienced tilers, but not with glass. So that rules that one out. The other thing is that the vanilla has no trim, so we'll have to put a metal trim piece on it—which perhaps is fine with the style of the kitchen.

Vanilla has a nice warmth to it. Good luck.

And look into the different patterns a tile can be set, like a herringbone. That will create some pattern and interest.

Vanilla, although the taupe is lovely. Do you have under cabinet lighting? That might brighten the space if you choose the darker tile.

ptreckel—we will have under-cabinet lighting, and above-sink lighting, and we're getting rid of the big ceiling fan and replacing it with (I think?) track lighting. Lighting is one of the things that is not finished, we also still need to trim in the high cabinets and do a couple other small things. It is rather dark in there at night (daytime is fine)—those dark cabinets really suck the light out of the room. My husband is a fan of dark rooms—if he had his way, our whole house would feel like a cave, so this kitchen reflects that. He thinks we should paint the kitchen a dark, forest green—I put my foot down. :) But I like the contrast of the dark cabinets and light countertops, and those ikea cabinets fronts opened up some space in our budget, so it's worked out.

ivory would be my pick. the vanilla is off . maybe the fresher look of the lighter one sounds better as you have some dark elements it appears. either ivory or vanilla probably okay I just think that ivory is a sure one / I like it in a few ways and mostly for everything going on.

What is it with husbands and wanting everything to feel like a cave 😂???? Describes my situation exactly.
