Our garage looked much like yours - builder grade taping and aged drywall. I replaced some tape, applied compound to feather the joints. Honestly I didn’t do a first class job because it is the garage.

Prime thoroughly and paint two coats. I used a flat ceiling paint so thar touch-ups are easy.

As you see below, I’ve installed lighting on the ceiling and run electricity throughout the garage.

Slat wall for hanging tools is very convenient. BTW, our garage is heated and heater is center top in the pix below. It’s natural gas and makes the garage usable project space during a midwest winter.

A cabinet stores small items and keeps them readily accessible.

Sunshine_31 - the flooring is Race Deck. It’s floating, 12 inch interlocking load rated vinyl tile intended for garages. Everyone I know who has DIY epoxy experiences bonding issues.

Everything on my garage floor is on wheels or casters. Important for easy cleaning. Can empty in 5 minutes.

Do you have storm door inserts? I have a pretty slick storage system for them (self congratulations). No photo but I’ll take one if you request.

Well, 2 weeks just for the walls :). Everything else will be work in progress/ongoing for a while.

Don't add any texture to the walls. A garage typically will have many holes from different things and texture is a pain to match. Just keep 'em smooth.
