Looking for advice on replacing our uneven old concrete. We want to extend the inside outdoors…..so we had 2 new slider/bifold doors installed. Next up is tearing down the old deck, my job. Then, before we install the aluminum patio cover, we have to replace the concrete.

The area will be roughly 15x35. Concrete is probably the most cost effective way to achieve our goals but pavers/floating deck offer a more modern, clean look.

I want to explore the idea of demo-ing the concrete, grading/drainage and installing the pavers/low deck myself. There will be a controlled cut/gap separating the existing pool concrete from the new surface, kind of a break if you will.

I have lots of construction/woodworking experience on a variety of projects but not this arena. Not afraid to tackle this though.

I’ve done my research and I don’t mind paying the professionals to pump concrete but I’m just trying to get a second opinion, perhaps from someone that’s tackled something similar.

Basically I have 3 options:

1. Have concrete demo and
   installed and sit back a relax.
   Least visually appealing
2. Demo concrete and install
   pavers myself.
3. Demo concrete and install
   deck
4. Oh, ya install sleepers over
   concrete and then install
   deck? Needs more research.
