What are you using for the patio surface?

Hello I'll be using standard pavers

Ours is also standard pavers, set with a 1/4” per foot grade. It was necessary to build a retaining wall to achieve the grade. And included a French Drain on the perimeter for water.

From what I know for pavers the slope should be at least an inch for about 8' so you may want to go to 1-1/2 to 2"

I agree with Millworkman - 1/8” to 1/4” per foot, away from your home. We reside in Upper Midwest where heavy rainfalls occur. That was my reasoning for using 1/4” plus installing a French Drain. Everything has performed properly since 1998.

I'm having a hard time finding class 5 roadbase, which is 3/4 inch minus roadbase. My landscape supplier says to use decomposed granite but I'm not so sure. Recommendations?

The gravel base does not have to match the slope of the soil subbase below it, so you can leave what you dug and just fill a bit more gravel to get a lesser slope.

AFAIK, no paver manufacturer recommends decomposed granite for a base, the fines are too small, basically dust. You can try a 1/8" chipped clean, that is popular in the Northeast (used even instead of sand bedding).
