Barn doors?

Not sure of your budget, have you considered reconfiguring the space to have maybe something like shelves/drawers in the middle with hanging at each side? You can get ideas from The Container Store website.

I wouldn't replace the doors as is. If on a budget..... bifold doors....., or better yet a reframing / re configuring of those eight feet.
