my gut says the plant looks happy as heck.. so whats to fix???

how long have you had it ...

the roots look great ... and by spring.. it will probably need a new pot ... so bare root it then and change out the media ...

since the plant looks so happy.. why fix that which isnt broken ...

one other thought.. if it was not in a see thru pot.. this would never have been noted ... and since the plant look fine.. you wouldnt even have a care in the world ... in regards to this plant anyway ....

ps: i assume you know what the bigger white chunks are ....

They are the mycelium and hyphae of a mostly harmless fungus which is residing in the potting medium. One of these days you will see tiny little mushrooms pop up, the most obvious indication of this fungus.

It is feeding on the potting medium and not on your plants. Over a very long period of time, the fungus will decompose the chunky solids of wood chips and peat, turning the potting medium into something not so great within the confines of a container.

lol.. because of 2 reasons ...

first.. its easier to rely on some of you for the off the cuff explanation... im not going to spend hours researching it when i figured you or gal or others would know easily ...

and second ... my point was that it was benign,... so what did it matter what it called ... if it were a problem.. the plant would show there was a problem ...

peeps dont need to helicopter their plants ... the plants will tell you when there is a problem.. and thats when you have something to fix ...

and otherwise.. im glad OP noticed.. and glad OP asked.. because then learned something ... knowledge.. power.. etc ...
