Pella Impervia Windows - Delay Delay Delay

Has anyone experienced delays in their Pella Impervia Windows? We have experienced multiple delays (order placed May 3rd) with our new build and are getting nowhere with their customer service management. Any Suggestions?

Lead can be and have been unpredictable. That is one of the longer ones i have seen. At this point toy at there mercy unless you can cancel your order and roll the dice with another company. They should have the courtesy to say we are having supply problems and we have no clue.

Thank you, we received an email today regarding an escalation filed with the plant. Open to any other suggestions anyone has.

This sounds interesting, i have never heard of an escalation being filed and have no idea what it means.

If you are ready to move on you need to look at other products and look at there lead times .

We are having the same issue. Bought 11 windows and a slider door from the impervia line for our new sunroom addition that was supposed to ready at the end of August/Mid sept, then mid oct, and just this week told nov 1. This is costing me money as I was selling two 8 foot tall slider doors(black exterior and white interior) from MI windows that are just under two years old since we are doing an addition. Now I need to find a new buyer for those. I went with Pella over MI windows since MI windows said 18 week delay.

Thanks Eric..Totally agree! I think they have a responsibility to say you could be waiting 7-8 months for your order up front!

We are unable to move into our new build and now are paying two mortgages while waiting for the remainder of our windows - wildly frustrating! Especially since our neighbors just had ALL of their Andersen windows installed last week and started building two months after us!!

Its very difficult for manufacturers and dealers to give you a definitive delivery date during these times. They can only give you a date based on what seems likely at that particular time and things obviously change by the day.

Supplier issues/ delays, among other things are extending lead times to unprecedented levels. If you were initially told 12-14 weeks and you are told at the last minutes its now 18 weeks, its no ones fault. This is just the way things will be for a while.

Thank you Window Genius, i agree with an extension from 14-18 weeks. We were reasonabke with that time frame. Our new delivery date is 26 weeks and that is unmanageable with project management and Ohio weather. In addition, we have a timeframe with our lender that may need to be extended - which involves more fees!

Update-Pella has been extremely resposive to our escalation. Our Pella distributor has been great to work with, communication has been excellent and we’re expecting our final five windows mid October! I’ll post another update once they’re delivered.

If you can, how did you escalate? I'd like to follow in the same way to hopefully get a good outcome too. My personal email is ehenry5@yahoo.com.

Have your windows been delivered yet?

Unfortunately not.. they promised complete delivery Tuesday and we‘re still short two windows.

The Pella distributer knew last week that they weren’t in and didnt let our builder know. Per usual, our schedule has been delayed - no more work can be completed until the windows get installed. Extremely frustrating!!

Update: Pella is not responding to our request for an update on our delivery. They are re-routing us back to our distributor who hasn’t received an update either.

There are serious supplier issues compounded by worker shortages. This is creating extremely long and unpredictable lead times. A company can give a lead time today only to have it drastically change in a few weeks. This is happening to all manufacturers and no ones fault. Unless we point out the unemployed who are able to work but would rather sit home and collect unemplyment and claim they are afraid of covid.

While the labor shortages are a very real issue, most of the uncertainty that I see in lead times is tied more closely to upstream suppliers (labor and material shortages at those levels). Pella does not make all of the parts and pieces for their windows just like other manufacturers do not, and many parts and pieces are simply backordered. If the company that manufacturers lock keepers or corner keys for the screen frames is unable to provide an eta as they wait on raw materials, the manufacturer of the finished product is unable to, and therefore the dealer is unable to. It stinks and its very frustrating to all involved, but that has been the situation as of late.

I understand some delays, but we just got another delay. They were supposed to be on the truck being delivered and now they are saying Nov 22 (3rd delay) and they can't guarantee that date. What is frustrating is that they confirmed the 2nd delay and leading up to this delay they said everything was a go. Our whole window order is Pella Impervia so you'd think all the windows would be made around the same time. We have some built and some not. Lack of communication is very frustrating. Now we can't do Thanksgiving dinner in our new space since the windows are delayed again.

Good news for us finally. The windows were delivered yesterday and installed today. Tomorrow the slider door comes and will be installed. A long process, but finally they are here and we can proceed with the rest of the build.

Thats great news.. ours have been installed as well they took a while, but well worth the wait!

I am now 2 years into a new build and don't see an end in sight. What I have learned during this frustrating time is that these big manufacturers respond to social media, so I've had satisfactory responses when I go to the manufacturer's Facebook page and then use the Messenger to get to someone. Apparently they care more about their social media profile than their customer service. It's ridiculous for those of us "boomers", but this is the new world, so if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

I ordered 8/21 (3 windows) and still nothing (5/22). Just keep moving the goal post. Never again. Cannot caution against using this company more!

    How can you escalate?

Ask your pella rep to escalate for you they will be able to communicate directly with the factory

Contracted with Pella for 5 windows and double entry door on January 27th. 2022 with a delivery date of 4/7/2022. My build has stopped and my contractor has had to find alternate work while we are still waiting for windows. It will be 6 months very shortly that I have been waiting for my windows , no windows ,no occupancy certificate.

Ordered over $200k windows/doors in January. No sign of them yet. Pella sales rep quit. Is Pella at risk of going under? Anyone hear of anything? Best alternatives?

"Ordered over $200k windows/doors in January."

Who did you actually order the windows from? Did the "sales rep" actually work for Pella, or the dealer you purchased the windows thru? What are the windows ordered, type, color, etc.?

Is Pella at risk of going under?

If they have not put themselves out of business as of yet, I would doubt it.

    "Best alternatives?"

Series? Quantity? What are the windows ordered, type, color, etc.?

Go to Pella’s Facebook or Linked In page. Use the messenger to contact them. I’ve found that to be the way to get anything done these days.

Same issue. Months long delays. Just the absolute worst level of communication from any supplier on our custom home.

I signed a contract in March 2022 for 7 single double-hung windows and 4 double double-hung windows. The singles were installed in January 2023. Here it is Feb 2023 and still no doubles. Almost 1 year later. And I grew up in Pella. Its incredibly disappointing.
