Kitchen Layout help needed

Hi! I see a lot of people give really good ideas for what to do in interesting spaces on here, so I thought I'd reach out.

I'm going to be re-doing my kitchen soon and am not sure how to design around this.

We have a wide "galley"? kitchen with a row of counters/cabinets about 12 foot long on each side. On the left side, we have the range and refrigerator. As you can see, the left side of the kitchen is sort of bumped in (to make room for the closets in the bedroom behind it). I'm not sure what to do with this bump in on the end.

I'd like to box the fridge in with cabinets...but I have this little piece of wall behind it and I'm not sure if that would look ok?

I'm open to moving the fridge...but still don't know how to design around that little wall.

We're going to be removing the bulkhead and having cabinets to the ceiling...or possibly open shelving. Just an fyi.

Can’t really see the whole space. But I’d probably move the fridge over to the left. Onto the wall that bumps in.

I agree that moving the fridge to the "bumped in" area would keep it from protruding past the built in counters. Then extend the counter and uppers down to the fridge.

That was my first thought but I’m not sure if the fridge would then be too far back?

I see only two pics; can you add pics and dimensions of the whole kitchen? If you have sufficient floor space, you can pull out the bases to the right of the fridge to match the depth of the fridge box. That will make the fridge look built in, and give you more counter space. A side-loading pantry can be added to the left, or if there's space, frame in a reach-in pantry or add ROTS pantry (more expensive).

I don’t think the fridge will be too far back. Try to move it there to test it out. I think you will like it.

That piece of wall that sticks out is 17”. I think that my countertops would then stick out further than my fridge.
Would a super deep (38”+) built in fridge make the room looks smaller/cut it off? That’s what I’m also worried about

You won't need to move the fridge back all the way to the wall. I read that it should be a least 2 inches from the wall for proper ventilation.

I would switch the side the refrigerator door opens. Place it flush with the front of the lowers. Ideally you could even put an extra deep full height cabinet (with pullout shelves) left of the fridge to hide the space behind the fridge.

Move the fridge to the left, flush with extended base cabinet(s) and counter. Then add a filler at the gap behind the fridge. Problem solved.
