The cold mornings have killed every leaf on the dahlias. I have other plants piled over their roots so waiting for digging should be okay. Supposed to warm a little after one more cold night.

I'd never be able to explore the extent of a cucumber's root system in my rocky garden soil. They had a good year but we missed many of the early ones by staying out of the garden on so many smokey days. The late Lemons were that much more appreciated.

Jerry, you have a wealth of tomatoes to remind you of garden days. Enjoy!

The trial one may be a bit bland, to an adult taste. If so, don’t mention that to the kids. You know how they have a more (a)cute sense of taste and might like them, anyway.

Drove by the distant garden on Saturday. The neighbor has everything moved out of the way in his garden for the tractor guy. He is still a no-show but there is some time.

Yesterday, I raked and hauled tree leaves to cover some plants in the yard and extra to compost. Will rake front lawn today (but thought it contributed a nice "ambiance" for Halloween ;o).

It was 24°f yesterday morning so today, I will carry the winter squash out from under tarps (& on a pallet) in the carport, down basement stairs, to their winter storage shelves. We are supposed to have warmer mornings but another sprinkle of rain so curing the squash outdoors may no longer make any sense. I think that most of this counts as "closing down the garden," yes?
