Attaching floating shelves in IKEA cabinet end panels?

Hi there! We are almost done our kitchen reno and are considering putting in tiny floating shelves on either side of our sink window for plants. Has anyone ever attached floating shelves through ikea end panels? We have no studs in useful places, so are considering drilling through the MDF forbattra panels, or maybe through the window trim to secure the shelves.
