With what you have going on, I would think about the blue and silver look.

Of course, Christmas in Florida won't be about snow. That's part of why you are in Florida, right??

I love the snow but the cold and grey gets old fast. I get that blue and silver would work beautifully but I have always considered Christmas decoration more of an overlay rather than mixing more in with what you already have....the additions in similar color loses its punch. A red and green Christmas has always been the most joyful for me.

I don’t think Christmas/holiday decor has to match your regular decor. It’s only for a few weeks each year. Pile on the red & green if that makes you happy!

i say do what makes you happy, Loretta. If pine, green, red bows, wreaths etc. gives you a great Christmas feeling, go for it! Life is too short to not submit to what brings you joy.

You should decorate the way that makes you happy. But I would go with a blue and gold / silver theme just because it would be so beautiful! You could get a blue tree, a white tree with blue ornaments and ribbon, or maybe your usual green tree with just two-sided blue silk ribbons in various shades tied on the tree like the image below.

I was just reading the November issue of House&Home and thought some of the ideas might be lovely for your home. Festive, but with a more natural feel. Suggest decorating in a way that resonates with you.

Leave it to you Patricia to just cut to the chase! LOL. But I agree....I have never been one of those who decorates the day after Thanksgiving and keeps it up through the winter. It is a HoliDAY for me and if I find myself dusting and rearranging the Christmas decorations I know it has gone on too long. LOL!

I have found all of your responses helpful and encouraging I think I will stick with the traditional decor that I love.... in little vignettes scattered about and enjoy the time with family and friends!

By the way, your condo is stunning! I’m sure whatever Christmas decorating you do will be equally lovely.

Loretta, every holiday should have the atmosphere that it should have. And it's in your own home, so as long as your family likes it, you don't have to worry about other people's feelings.

Look. It's two weeks, or it's a month. There's the theme xmas and the what makes you happy xmas, but in the end it's always about the TREE.

YES......it's the tree. There really isn't a need to tart up the entire house as has become the standard.............MAKE WORK project. Make a storage problem . You have to think about where stuff is going, how it will be attached to where it is going and for heavens sake it can turn into overkill in a heartbeat.

If you want to blow your own mind? Layer colored lights over white lights. Over load the ornaments. Old, new, who cares? Just make sure you get your hands on incandescent lights. DOES IT "GO" WITH THE CONDO? WELL..........who cares? It will blow your mind. ( The first time I did this for a client ( whose tree was very short on lights ) I stood back and said..................HOLY S _ _ _ _. !! That tree blew everyone's mind. Kids and adults.

Hang a big wreath on that mirror, and call it a day: ) Add candles. Now stop.

The point is, do what brings you joy. Lord knows, there is little enough of it as of late.

I should note:

For years, I did xmas for clients. Sometimes a dozen in a single year. I finally stopped, and refused forever. It killed the joy for me. Go for your own joy.

Ty Jan. I will try that on the tree and yes I hung a wreath on the mirror last year and loved it. Ordered a real one from Maine.

I live in Australia, which is not noted for snow and reindeer. Furthermore, Christmas falls in the middle of our summer. People still decorate with Christmas trees decked in red and green, hang wreathes on the front door, put up Christmas lights in the garden and have Santas on the front lawn. Celebrate Christmas the way you want, with the colours you want (and I'd skip adding more blue - you want Christmas to stand out).

Key to all trees: Make sure the INSIDE is lit.....and that's where you also put the less fabulous ornaments. It is what gives the tree the wow,, and the depth. DON'T FORGET THE INSIDE AND BACK SIDE : )

As a Jew, I'm probably the wrong person to be giving X Mas decorating advice. But, I'd do the pine that you love and gives you the scent of the holiday and decorate it with gold and brass accents. I think it will look beautiful.

I spent most of my childhood in the southern hemisphere so Christmas was a summer event! All we had was an artificial tree, some cut evergreens and pine cones. New Year's with outdoor pool parties and fireworks was the best!

As an adult I succumbed to the Martha Stewart effect for a few years and then realized it was just crazy consumerism and cut way way back to a level that did not cause stress. Christmas shouldn't be about stress!

Do what makes you happy ... unless you are looking to impress Instagram followers!

Sounds like you are being well supported!! Your home is beautiful. Love the watery under the sea feel of the pictures!! My home SHINES in the fall. I am all about fall tones. Christmas I go full on RED and green! I don't apologize, I don't notice, I don't CARE about the not matchy matchy color. I just CELEBREATE Christmas. I've lived in a lot of States and many have their colors and traditions and they are all lovely but in the end FOR ME --they are a poor facsimile of "traditional" Christmas!! DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY!!!

Though I believe that you should do what do you really want because Xmas is all about happiness and dreams.
