Got another cordless tool today

I've always wanted a cordless snow shovel. Walked into my local Toro dealer this morning and there it was. It's a 60V model, weighs 16lbs. I am worried about the weight, but hopefully will get used to it. I pushed and lifted it around the shop for a good half hour before I decided. ha

Mainly it will be for shoveling snow off the front walk to the mailbox, off the back porch and steps, also the steps off the back garage door. I'm going to try and use it for my short front drive, but the drive is gravel based and this shovel is not recommended on gravel. And in front of the mailbox at the road, that is also gravel. However, if I lift it up a little it will work, not exactly back friendly in that position, but I figure if the snow is deep enough I need only take off a layer and not clear down to the gravel. Will just have to wait and see.

It's on the charger now. The guy said to charge it up now, and then it will be ready when needed.

I am not picturing this -- how does a cordless snow shovel work? You still have to get the snow on the shovel, right?

Is it a small snow blower? That’s what we call them in Michigan! :-)

No wheels? Is it auger propelled, or do you just scoot it on the ground? I don’t think I have ever seen one and I am intrigued!

Electric snow shovels have been around for years. I wanted a cordless one, and was waiting to get a Toro. There are other makes and models of course.

My 80+ year old aunt just bought a Ryobi cordless shovel. Hers weighs 15lb. and is 30V. I think she paid almost as much for that one as I did for the 60V. She wanted hers especially so she could shovel an area out to and in the yard for her dog so it could do its business! lol Not sure how it will be on grass, but taking a chance.

I hope to be able to lift mine up and onto the back porch to take the heavy snow off as it has no roof. I tried that out (sans snow of course) when I got home and I think it will be fairly easy when I get used to it.

Thanks for the pic, @schoolhouse_gwagain ! Can you please let us know if it works well? I’m trying not to think of snow just yet either, but I know it’s coming, and if the rain this sunmer is any indicator of the amount of snow we’ll get this winter, we’re in trouble in SE MI!
