If you have room for a door to swing into your pantry, I assume you are comfortable with the amount of space left for storage. I would definitely go with the second option and avoid the corner pantry if you have plenty of other storage space. The main problem with corner cabinets is lost and/or wasted space. This would work if you built or found an appropriately sized Lazy- Suzan that could spin within the corner pantry to give you maximum access and ease of retrieving what is stored there. The second floor plan is more functional and efficient. Since you are renovating, is it possible to come in enough into the pantry (on a diagonal) to put in a pocket door instead of a swinging door to save even more space?
