If you know what you like than go for it!! I like the herringbone over the hex

Scoop a couple tablespoons of dirt from your back yard into a baggie. Take it to the flooring shop to match.

We have cream porcelain tile. I have a broom and a stiffer wet jet right there to get rid of the dirt before it gets tracked into the house. I have cinnamon tile in my kitchen that does not show the dirt.

I have Waterhog mats before you enter to scrape boots and knock off snow. Makes a big difference.

I have gray slate in my kitchen/laundry/power room with dark grout. It does show yellow dog fur but not much else.

The pattern depends on the house and room style.

If you get REAL stone, be sure to stain test it. My slate is impenetrable, even unsealed. But many slates do stain.

Fori makes a good point about the slate. It looks like you show real slate in the first pic and possibly porcelain in the hex pic. Porcelain is also a good choice for this application. But if you want real slate, there are varying grades. You’ll pay more for a higher quality. Hard to describe, but it will have a tighter grain than cheap slate. Good luck!

Whatever you choose,you want it to be mop friendly. Even if it won’t show dirt, it will still be dirty and you will still need to mop it.
