It looks like you don't have anything at all in the foyer. You need some storage for those shoes. I'd do something with that closet door so that it fits in with the front door.

Art, area rugs, a console or two..........what is in the REST of the home. ?? The more inforyou provide, the better the answers. There are no crystal balls here.

Sorry but without pics of all the spaces who knows. IMO the front door is fabulous and the blue carpet on the stairs not so much, The floors are a statement for sure and IMO you either change them or work with them and I would keep everything very monochromatic with no pattern in rugs or upholstery at all. But I need to see the spaces and also your furniture . This is areally awesome house from what I see and you need to think hard about what you want . That closet door IMO needs to match the front doors at least in wood finish

Nice things to have in an entry are benches or chairs, like you mentioned, so sit on and set items on as you transition from coming indoors. Also a table or something for mail and keys, a basket for newspapers.  Is it possible you have enough room in that foyer for a stunning table in the center of the space and a show-stopping pendant light from the ceiling? Or is the space smaller than it appears in the pictures? I think you appear to also have room on the walls around the entry for narrow tables. You could include a small chest to hold scarves and gloves etc. A chair could be next to that or a chair on either side of a table or chest. I agree you need something to tame and hide the shoe clutter.  And you mentioned small benches in front of the side windows. That's an acceptable option if you like it, but there are other options, like houseplants, or just leaving them clear to get light and see out. Mirrors are nice in a hallway to check your look on the way out. Depending on your ethnicity, a photo gallery of ancestors can be nice. Otherwise artwork that reveals how you want to first present yourself to strangers and guests is appropriate. Think about each of these items and what style of each suits your geographic location, your home's overall style, and your personal preferences. 

Regarding colors, peach is a pale reddish orange. So choose a color scheme. You have a bold blue carpet on the stairs, which fit a complementary color scheme. Do you like that? You said you wanted to keep it for now. You have a bold beautiful wood door and side windows. Do you love them? If so, now you have a peach and brown color scheme going. Any furnishings you choose could be wood to repeat the wood in the door. Picture frames to match the same wood would give you the necessary repetition. No benches in front of the windows. It will look cluttered and there is no reason for clutter because you have a huge space. Could you put something on the opposite wall to contain the shoes? Choose a dramatic rug and don’t shove it up against the threshold. Bring it out further into the foyer.

What sort of shoe container? would want one that doesnt look like one… good point about clutter!

Oh, wow, Hali! You have a beautiful space there! It's stunning! It's just empty. That looks like a living room with a two story stone fireplace next to the entry. Great house! 
If you've never had a big open space like that, you might be thinking you have to line up furniture around the walls, but what you need to do instead is group the furniture according to purpose and use area rugs to tie it together.

Wow, Hali! Starting from scratch with that big house is scary. You know though, the house is so nice, I think the only wrong thing you could do is rush. Do you mean you have nothing for the whole house, or nothing for the entry? I mean if it's the whole house, there are a few different strategies. I read an article recently. I'll see if I can find it. You gotta get something to sleep on.

Everything except the blue carpet and the closet door is working here. I hope there is a stunning light fixture in the stairwell end of the space. You might consider matching ones in both ends instead of fans. Do you play piano? I would have to place a baby grand under those stairs! If you don't play, you can get a player one, but they cost thousands. Otherwise,, I suggest a substantial round foyer table like some Beth H. shows. Another idea is to arrange a settee and pair of chests plus art and lamps on the wall behind the stairs and directly opposite the front door. Are you able to take a photo at dusk with the can lights on so we can see what areas are highlighted where you might want to feature something?

I would not make the closet door match the front door; it would take away from the impact of the double door. Paint the closet door and its frame exactly the color of the wall to make it "disappear". Do an area rug in front of the double door -- something with quite a lot of navy (not black) in it. I like the idea of benches (with shoe storage!) in front of the sidelights.

PS dark blue and peach marble look great together.

I agree with Leeza about painting the closet door the came color as the wall to make it disappear. Is that closet your coat closet? I like a place to sit and remove boots, and a small table to put keys and mail, near my front door and coat closet. Is that what the closet is? If not, where is your coat closet? Sometimes it's nice to have a mirror in a front entry. A mirror can have many uses, shapes, and sizes. It might be that mounting a full length mirror on that door , in addition to painting it the color of the wall, would be both useful and add further camouflage.

Beth found you some great shoe storage furniture. We're focused on that, because we saw shoes in the photo and don't like it. We assumed that would be the norm. Shoes also can be put in a closet. Or shoes can be worn in a house. Different people like different things. What is the norm for you and family and guests?

And I agree that for now, you could focus on peach, dark blue, and dark wood. You don't have to limit yourself to just those colors. If you find an area rug or piece of art that really sings to you, use that as your color inspiration. If you can afford to buy it, great; if not, print out a picture to take shopping with you, or just have it handy on your cell phone. 

The staircase, front door, and stone fireplace wall make me think your home would best be decorated in an elegant Hollywood, retro (60s) or art deco style. When was your home built? Any chance you feel like sharing a picture of the front of the house so we could see the style? I see there are more stones like in the fireplace. The house seems to have both very masculine and feminine characteristics, which is great and will be a lot of fun. Go with the shapes already there, the curves, the arrows, the thin delicate lines. I agree a round rug and table would suit better than rectangles.

It looks like your kitchen is right off the entry. Is the dining table towards the back and the living room towards the front? Do you bring groceries in from a garage or the front door? Will you bring them to a table, then take off your shoes and coat, then take them to the kitchen? There is your spot for a table.

I just did a Houzz photo search on entry for the room, and Hollywood art deco for the search term, and found lots of photos that could help you visualize your space decorated. I suggest you try it. Art played a big part, and that can be had at a lower price than you might think these days with on-line sources. There was a round table, some storage chests and chairs too. The main thing I am saying is to go with the existing feel of your home and don't fight it.

Also miss green goes with navy and peach nicely, and white or cream already is in your walls. They all pair nicely.

Very large art at either end of the space could be stunning. The art could determine the color for a grouping for 4 or more chairs around a coffee table in front of that fireplace. Just loaded this pic because they kind of match your blue carpet, and for the scale of the fireplace.

Stunning space. I don't think any of the rugs look good, the floor is too yummy to cover. Don't know your climate, but if you can, can you put a rug on the front porch and forgo an interior rug? Otherwise, I'd go very neutral and let the door and staircase be the stars.

A beautiful peachy Persian under a grand piano would be yummy. This one also incoporates the navy from your stairs.

Area looks plain and simple which is hard for me to call outdated. Would there be any appeal to paint/stain just the stair posts? a midnight-dark navy/ or popular charcoal-black?

Don't block your air vents. This house was designed for furniture groupings. It's an elegant home, so your biggest enemy is clutter. That includes trying to add too much at once. Keep it simple and that will keep it elegant.

I suggested the shoe storage assuming you felt strongly about having a no-shoes policy. I shouldn't have assumed. Do you feel strongly about it, or is this just a habit? Even if you do feel strongly about it, do you think it's possible to take your shoes off at the entry then take them to a cleaning/disinfecting station before taking them to your dressing area? Your entry's elegance will be marred with a pile of shoes in it. There's this whole conversation about the pros and cons of a no-shoes policy. After reading it, I came away with the thought that it's not very hospitable or elegant to have such a policy.

Does the OP even use the front door to go in/out of and need shoe storage? Usually the garage or carport is to the rear or side of the house, and homeowners enter through that door.

Have you considered having the marble honed? The stone exterior and fireplace are more relaxed. The front doors are fabulous! Definitely paint the walls and trim the same color. The staircase is the star of the foyer, and the foyer is a passthrough to other areas of the home, so don't overthink or crowd the space.
