dining room help

I have a good sized dining room with a large dining room table. There is a large picture window at one end which I love and an adjacent sitting area. The other end is a small window that the previous owners left in after building the addition of a “mudroom”. I need something on the wall with the small window. Ideally for storage but would be happy with a console table.
Should I hang sheers wider than the window to make it appear wider and then put a small two door buffer on either side of the window? OR could I just do one long 4 door sideboard in front of the window with two lamps? I may do cafe plantation shutters also so only the bottom half is covered. In the photo, the wall with the piano (which will get moved to the office) is where I would like two small buffets or one long one. Maybe something on legs so as not to look “heavy”. Would love feedback.

That is such a gorgeous space!! 💖 looks amazing!!
What about two built ins on either side of the window.
    Maybe ikea hack storage?
Or maybe two antique pie safes?
I’d leave the area under the window as is.
Maybe you can do a console under that art instead?

Again, LOVELY space! You have awesome taste.

Thank you!! I can’t really pull the leather chair away from the wall further than it is bc the next chair would also have to get moved closer to the dining room and it would be off center. You can see in this pic a different angle.

And thank you for your idea!! Wasn’t sure if I could do anything talk on each side of the window. Wasn’t sure if the room would look too heavy on that end

I think I would put your two existing pieces on each side of the window and hang related artwork above them. Beautiful space!

Whoops, I just read where the piano is moving to the office. Any of your ideas would work in the space.

It doesn’t have to be something heavy.

    You can do:

    Shelving

    Glass fronts

    Mesh fronts ...

See inspiration photos below. Also, notice the lights in some of them. I think a some pretty gold accents on top will look amazing

Why purchase two cabinets? Just purchase a cabinet and place it in front of the window.

I love this! Thank you!! I think I was thinking two bc they are easier to repurpose if we ever need to for a different space and I saw this photo and thought it was an option to consider. But I love your idea! The visual is so helpful!! The photo is what made me think two would be an option.

Beverly, this is what made me think of the option of two smaller ones on each side of the window. However I love you idea. I love glass doors and wasn’t sure if it would be too much glass with the window. What are your thoughts on linen sheer panels to give the appearance of a larger window ?

Oh also I think I as hesitant to put one piece in front of the window bc all of them are about 4 inches higher than the window sill

    ^that would bug me 🥴

I know... I think it would me too. But I have seen some pics of sideboards on legs (rather than one piece that sits entirely on the floor) and it somehow looked a little better. But I hear you.... see....dilemma. I can “build” built ins right now. Totally gutting and finishing the third floor at the moment

I think a narrow sideboard cabinet would look good under the larger window, framed by draperies. I would put a smaller chest under the smaller window to hold serving utensils, table-runners and napkins.

@felizlady, I just feel like when you walk in from the kitchen there would be so much furniture against that wall. First the two the chairs and then the sideboard and the opposite wall with the small window, even with the oval tea table would feel like it’s lacking.... 🤷‍♀️ maybe you’re on to something

For the purpose of having that area symmetrical, it would be nice to put a console table on each side with accompanying decorative lamps (Tiffany lamps) "the stained glass window look" with hues to match/coordinate with the paint in your dining area. Also maybe some small faux succulent plants with coordinating colors.

Another option is building in a bench along the whole wall. And have the bottom portion made with drawers for storage, but again you can leave it empty. With just a planter in the corner of the room also...
