Ordering early is a good idea. We bought a washer/dryer right after Covid hit, and it wasn't nearly as easy as previous purchases. They didn't have this-or-that, things that were promised to arrive by ___ date -- well, didn't arrive.

Having said that, several concerns:

- Do you have a place to store these appliances if they arrive early?

- When will the warranty start -- when you buy the item, or when it's installed?

- If something is wrong with the appliance (small chance), will they take it back even if it has sat for a couple months before being installed?

Both places we are looking - Best Buy and a local chain have both said they can hold them until delivery given the supply issues, so I believe warranty and other issue are null since we wouldn’t be taking delivery yet. Any advice on brands? Thanks for the reply! :)

Of the ones you've listed, I'd go with Thermador. We're close to starting a major remodel too, and would be going with Thermador myself.

We bought ours at Sears and although they held our appliances at the store warehouse so they were ready for delivery when our house was at that stage our warranty started when we purchased them. Check your fine print!

We went with Ferguson. They have held them for months and just recently delivered. We did not pay until delivery (unlike some of the box stores) so our warranty begins now. Also, when we ordered several months ago, our prices were locked in. The price of our appliances went up approximately $200 each from that time. We were lucky to order early. Once Ferguson received the appliances, they stored them, along with all of our lighting and plumbing supplies, until needed. Payment on delivery (which was actually after delivery by a couple of weeks and they billed us.

We went with KitchenAid (range and FF), Bosch (dishwasher), and Sharp (drawer microwave.)

We went with a local shop and they have the best customer service. I also ordered early to avoid delays and then my build got very delayed so my appliances have been in since August and they haven't even broken ground yet. The warehouse is holding our appliances for us. We went with Bosch because we are doing black stainless steel and they are the only company whose black stainless isn't a coating.

However, we are renting in a new build townhome right now and they have a Kitchen Aid package regular full size range, wall oven, microwave built in over oven, dishwasher and fridge. I love these appliances. They work great.
