accent wall ideas

Wanted to do a center stone accent wall to mount Tv and fireplace. Wall is uneven and stone center may look off due to the wall not being symmetrical.

    To the ceiling?

    TV is too high now

Dang! Are you really tall people? My neck is stiff from looking at the picture of your tv.

No to the accent wall you already have no space for a cabinet under the TV which BTW is mounted way too high. Take a couple of pics from different angles so we can see the whole space but IMO that wall is already overpowering the crowded space without making it even larger with stone .

I agree that you may be able to accent a different wall better.
But I’d look into wallpaper. Skip the stone.

You need a pull-down mount for that TV - should be closer to eye-level. That said, I'd paint the wall a nice 'beachy' color (sea foam green, caribbean blue) to offset all the white. Hard to tell from the limited view shown but a splash of color would be nice. Also might consider highlights to the coffered ceiling.

I don't think you want to *accent* a wall that has a doorway carved out, a balcony cutting into it, and a return vent hanging in space. Just get a nice console for under the TV, lower the TV to viewing height (when seated), and then maybe put an end table with a lamp on it at the left end of the couch. Art on nearby walls, maybe a rug under the sectional and coffee table. Done.

You want to do a “center stone accent wall”. Does that mean a strip of stone as if its a fireplace wall? That wall as is needs something but its not to accent the height. I think you should try to bring the ceiling down visually.

I appreciate each and every single one of your response ! Here are some more pics of the space and surroundings.

    That’s a really pretty house.

I wouldn’t accent that wall with paint or brick or stone. I’d get a BIG colorful painting to hang there all by itself. Move the tv to a low console set on the ’stair wall.’

This removes the tv as a focal point of the room and instead lets the house architecture shine. And your new painting.

We might not recommend doing an accent wall. Perhaps try adding a long, low console under the TV as you see here in our design:

M Riz has shown you the perfect solution for the wall.

The textured wall provides a pleasant degree of symmetry achieved on the uneven space.

Would mount the tv on a stand so it can be moved as and where wanted/needed rather than attach it to the wall ... anywhere on the wall. The heat from a heat producing fireplace makes mounting a tv above one unwise.

Would not add a faux stone fireplace to the modern room... it will just look fake. Any fireplace will limit where you can reasonably put your furnishings.

If you're considering adding a fireplace that will actually produce heat and adding it for the heat, such as when the power goes off, consider whether or not it would be worthwhile to have one even if you needed to sacrifice a large pane of glass in the exterior wall to add it. If not, it likely isn't worth adding.

Thank you all, I love the texture wall idea more and found that going with the textured wall would be more fitting to the space. I am , however thinking of adding a white stone wall here with some floating shelves? This is located on my second level. Any suggestions for the 3rd pic ?

No need for accent wall, as others have mentioned. There is a need for color, it's all too beige. Doesn't have to be something bright either, but you need some highs and lows and maybe a bit metallic accents. Coffe table or side table or smaller tables to move around where needed. Colorful pillows once art or accent has been decided. As others have mentioned, get a lowboard and lower the tv or place on top of lowboard. Add artwork somewhere.
And I know you didn't ask, but elminate the greenery above your cabinets in the kitchen and leave plain. I might also get new pendants over the island, although they aren't bad, but I would definitely get a new light over the breakfast eating area in the back.
    Very lovely home! Good luck!

Just one thing, I am always aware of the cleaning ease for my home. A stone wall stinks to dust. Thats all.

    You have a beautiful home.

Hate to be a downer but you need to know: Even trying to heat a two story room that size without a heat pump return system to move the heat back downstairs -- or at the very least ceiling fans to do that -- is going to be all but futile because HEAT, from any source, RISES.

Wanting a fireplace for heat when the power is off would require a gas fireplace or even a wood burning fireplace, both of which require appropriate air supply and venting and would also face that heat exchange issue ... your upstairs would be too hot and your downstairs not warm enough.

I'm not a pro. I mention that from personal experience with both wood heaters and a fireplace in a multi level home.

Some gas heaters require electricity for a fan to work properly.

If you're considering a wood burning fireplace, you'd likely need to construct it within the exterior wall ... unless you really want to tear up your home, including the upstairs for the chimney.

You need to talk with a heating pro if the fireplace is intended for providing heat.

Even if you only want the fireplace for ambiance ... would still talk with a pro to address any potential safety issues.

And M Riz is definitely right about stone collecting dust (and spiderwebs). Guessing brick grooves and grout would as well.

You have a ?return? vent in the ceiling above where you want to put the stone wall and shelf?

Keep that in mind as you re-create this wall. There are "natural stone" peel and stick tiles that might work well ...

and you might consider creating a built in cabinet with a natural wood top -- left to right wall to wall -- instead of just adding a shelf ... built, perhaps as a desk such as might be intended in a butler's pantry niche by an upscale kitchen -- whether painted or natural wood :

Or, are you thinking of an electric or gas fireplace there, too? Unless there is room for a comfortable chair for reading near it ... likely not practical.

I would have an entertainment unit/cabinet on that wall…natural or medium-stained wood.
It can hold the TV at eye-level to a seated adult, and a music system. The addition of wood cabinetry can add nice contrast to the current colors. The room would also benefit from framed art. An electric fireplace may be possible, but a gas fireplace would have to be vented, which would be difficult and costly. Be sure you check with the local building and safety authority before adding anything with a flame.

you could do an art gallery on that wall if you like.

Maybe one of these original artworks would add some texture and contrast to your wall. Here are some ideas to ponder. Good luck and enjoy decor !
