Not a pro, but I vote to the end of the counter. So far, the kitchen looks great!

Unless, you can take the tile around the doorway (which I think would look lovely, but is obviously not for everyone’s taste)
I think it might look funny to have it to the end of the countertops and nothing above it.

I suggest to line-up with the end of your upper cabinets.

Neither way is right or wrong. Either way, you need to find a matching pencil liner, quarter round or Schluter to finish off the vertical and maybe horizontal edges.

The purpose of the backsplash is to protect the wall from splashes that occur when cooking, so you could actually stop it and the end of the last doored cabinet, at the end of the shelf cabinet, or at the end of the counter. My personal choice would be at the end of the counter, because it is the traditional, expected look. Stopping it short of the counter may imply that you couldn't afford to complete the job, and the majority of people would expect the traditional installation.

@decoenthusiaste I don't agree with this at all. I would never look at a backsplash that ends with the cabinets & assume that they couldn't afford to complete the job. I do not like the odd corner of backsplash sticking out beyond the cabinet. I like clean lines.

Here are some more photos. I used it everywhere except in my bathroom and laundry room, I left the tile there. Anyways, I think it came out great. I love it.

You should either bring the tile to the end of the backsplash at the same full height (top of counter to bottom of the upper cabinets) or being the tile at full height to the end of the upper cabinet then step the tile down to the same height as the bottom of the outlets then, at that height run the tiles to the end of the counter. if the tiles dont go to the end of the counter it will look unfinished.
