You can use that leather chair with the existing sofa. I'd suggest you find a wood coffee table for the room & an area rug to anchor the seating area. Good Luck

Don’t love that color with your living room pieces. I think a “real” color, like navy, would workbetter. If you love the chair, it might work better in your next house since it looks comfy.
But if you just feel you need to fill that corner space, why not shop antique stores, used furniture and tag sales? More fun and probably less money.

Well not sure when we are moving a few years but no real solid plan yet. At that point would need far less furniture and we have a family room with a set of leather sofa and love seat in dark brown. Kind of need a chair before the holidays and cannot afford to wait the long waits that now are involved with furniture orders. I would love to find something great at a antique store, great Idea, but not many near me and don't really have the time right now to do that. I need something I can get in my living room in a few weeks.. thus my dilemma. This is why I went to the clearance center. I can try the clearance area at Raymore and Flannigan to see if they have something. A color would be nice but not sure Navy would work with my green walls. Not sure that show up very well. Clearly don't want something that wont look good with current furniture and colors but need something quickly and inexpensive.. lol. A lot to ask I know.

looking at my photos they walls look almost light blue which is why I could see where you would say navy. They are actually a sort of minty green.. its called silversage.. it was a restoration hardware color.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. I think if you like the chair then get it, lol. Maybe change the sofa pillows to ones that blend with the chair too.

Jankowski yeah I know. True I could put some different pillows to tie the colors together. Its not good making a decision like this but then again did not plan on losing the chair. I did see taupe and toffee together online. I think Redryder is right I need some color but the right chair is one I may need time to scout out. This chair is not cheap. 500 but for leather a good price.

Just looked at Ashley.. they have a lot of options but I am still falling into the monocromatic scheme I tend to do. Its safe.. and I know I can punch it up with pillows and throws and rug..

Seems though anything I like is on back order. These two are available. somewhat similar to the one chair I have now but the legs are different colors.. so again not sure if that matters or not. Being a fairly eclectic room it may not.

I like that they are neutral and you can play with color in pillows, rugs and throws. Makes your furniture more practical so you can move pieces around your house.

A rug will give you a ton of color. It’s not necessary to have it in your furniture. It’s a nice room!

You definitely need a rug to warm up the room and tie it all together. The leather looks like it would be a nice layer of color, I would love to see a big vintage Persian rug in that room (sometimes can be had for cheap in second hand shops or FB Marketplace- I got a 12x13 Karastan for $250 plus the cost of cleaning)

No, stick to reddish colors or contrasting colors, not the "toffee" yellow-green color.

mmm red that might be a bit to rad for me.. but I do agree the chair is too yellow mustardy for the room though several of the pros are saying yes to it. I am so confused but i guess one needs to go with what one likes and is comfortable with. I think if I play it "safe" as this room became a mix match up and was never done all at once which would have been the best way .. long story as to why but it is what it is and I am not buying all new furniture so need to deal. Contrasting colors would be ok but it cannot be thing in the room.. Also I think then I would need to place it in the center of the room perhaps where the current chair is and then move that chair to the corner.

So color surrounded by the neutral. I have not found anything though that I like in a contrast style wise..also if I change the paint color in a year or two.. etcc.. sooo may just stick with neutral and get my color pop from pillows and rug.

Do your chaise and sofa have the same fabric or are they just in the same taupe tone, more or less? The white chair, if you add another very similar one, will look like you couldn't find two matching chairs so you settled for "close enough". When you are spending $500 for a new chair, it's time to find what you really want, not what will be a white elephant moving from room to room in search of a good design home. Two blue (or other colorful) chairs and a wonderful rug would make the room look fabulous. In the meantime, try looking around the house for another chair you can borrow when you have guests.

Yes you expressed my concern re two chairs very similar. The chaise and sofa are both taupe but not the same fabric and slightly different shades

I am getting pressure from my H as we have a large group on Dec 11 and he is concerned about seating not that I feel one chair is going to make a world of difference on that score. In any case if I can find and get delivered something by then that I like and works I would be thrilled:) So at this point I am between opinons LOL as all the pros say go for the leather

A few more comments:

You can take a taupe pillow from your pieces to the store to check against the toffee leather.

White fabric chairs are easily stained.. Dark leather is easy to clean. Tan leather can stain visibly in nothing flat.

Chairs can be rented by event-rental companies.

Can you get someone to fix the chair that broke? Look for a handyman or upholsterer

No the chair that broke really broke badly it was old and needed to go so that's not a problem the problem is now from there

I agree white is difficult to stay clean we really don't use the room that often but point taken.

I now have another thought so please don't shoot me. In this picture I moved the current chair to the corner and then put a place mark bench where that chair used to be to see what this idea might look like-- so wondering if maybe some sort of interesting bench, double ottoman or even a small loveseat would work there .. the space is good for something 48 wide by 26-27 or so deep. It looks like it pulls together a bit more. Rug yes -- to come down the line... I know LOL.. but for the moment. I feel like I like this better than another chair and it might give me extra seating.

I have other chairs from dining room could use but I am trying to round out the room with something more permanent. BTW that big tall item at the end of the room was an old grandfather clock I believe that was made into shelves... I inherited it but do plan to pass it on to someone.

Yes, the bench gives a good visual! What about a settee, instead of a chair that will look lonely?

And I would move the rug selection up if you have the funds. I promise it will tie the room together. Plus, your floors are a strong color and with a rug, they won’t be dictating what you do as much.

Here are photos of settees. They come in a million colors. The beige one is what we got for my niece’s office due to the color of her carpet.

Thanks Redryder.. YES! I started looking at upholstered benches, settees and tiny loveseats.. It cannot be too deep 27 or so deep.. like the top one.. looking for a print of some sort but that is harder to find. Need to wait on the rug though.. its ok for the moment I just need the chair, bench settee whatever to have the seating I need. Anyone coming to our home has been here before so not really stressing about it but just want to get something in time. I feel good about this decision.. thanks.. for the suggestions I will check out the above!
