We've used a lot of this in our laundry room. It's a fav amoung the fam. The scent is preferrable to the orginal version. Full disclosure: I don't use this detergent on anything of mine as the scent is loud. The fam likes scented detergent, though.

If you can find it, usually within Latin markets, it's a good cleaner. I like it for whites, things like towels, socks, underwear. It's good for small rugs that can go in the washing machine too. It can fade dark cottons a bit, so keep that in mind.

The problem with it is that it suds up a lot. It shouldn't be used in FL washers for this reason as you may find yourself in a jam. Perhaps, if one has very hard water, there is a happy medium. I have trouble with my drain pipe with this detergent as I have the exuberant Speed Queen TL with the mighty pump that blows air down the pipe on final rinse. I can have suds pushing up and out of the pipe and then down the wall where the drain pipe is. I usually have to underdose a fair bit to avoid this problem.

If you should see it around town MWJ, pick up a bag (sometimes it can be found in a small, low risk size) and try it out.

I've bought a small bag of this yesterday but have yet to use it on my towels. I do look forward to trying it out. I have to stick to small bags and/or boxes because the container I use is only a 3.3 Liter. So the small bag is perfect for me.

I tried the Ariel w/oxi recently and it was highly perfumed. I also found it didn't rinse well.

MWJ, this might be the perfect detergent for you to use on towels, primarily to get that scent you like. Sometimes, it is things like that that make a difference for us in enjoying our homes. A couple of years back one of my BIL's commented on how good our hand towels smelled, and that left an impression on me. People do like that. That is why I understand that some of us associate the scent of the fabric softener/dryer sheet with clean laundry. We know from spending years here that that is not the reality, but there is no harm in it for those who like to indulge in it. In moderation of course!

MWJ, hope you like it! I got the liquid version of Ariel con Downy and it cleans well and doesn't get sudsy in my HE TL. Scent is actually rather faint.

Elbits, as always it good having your insight on here. Hope you've been well. Does Ariel/w Oxi smell the same as the original Ariel? I've never used that particular variant yet.

armjim, thank you for the encouragement. I've always been one who enjoys pleasant smelling laundry. Of course not overwhelming scents but definitely noticable in a good way. I'm glad to have stumbled upon this forum a year ago and to learn so much about different products and what truly cleans items versus what we assume cleans items. Definitely useful information! I have all of you guys to thank for that. Thank you!

Thank you, Pink! I will definitely update everyone on the results after multiple usages. My new white towels have been coming out great so far. Not sure if you were on the other thread where I explained my white towel cleaning routine, but so far so good. Hoping this set last us for a long time.

tideman_59, it's good hearing from you! What part of the country are you in again? I'm in central Florida and this stuff is on the shelves almost everywhere, especially Walmart and Dollar General. Same with Foca and Roma

MWJ '90, I'm not sure if the Ariel detergents smell alike. The scent was nauseating. Now, I like the scent of Gain original but I liked it more before they changed the fragrance.

I'm just south of Cleveland in Ohio. I have to admit I haven't looked for Ariel in quite awhile so maybe it's here and I've just missed it. Most Ariel in this area is powder so I'll start looking.

Same here, I've yet to see liquid Ariel here, powder only.

Interesting to read the different formats of Ariel is available depending on your location.

MWJ, the MX Ariel powders smell different than the liquids (I guess American Tide is the same way)

Pink, I'd love to try Mexican Ariel powder. I've heard on here many times how much more superior it is compared to the US version.

Update: So it's now been a few weeks since I've started using Ariel w/Downy and I can honestly say that I like this Powder. I still prefer A&H and Gain's scent more but  Ariel w/Downy  is not a bad option at all. 

The Tide Original has really put a bad smell in my nose and I just don't think I'd ever go back to it...not even as a floor cleaner. That's how disappointed I am with it. Just horrible smh.

Mega agree MWJ. I never imagined a day would come that I'd choose the scent of powered Ariel (in any variety) over Tide original powder. I'm still flaberghasted at how exceptionally horrible the new scent of Tide original powder is.

ETA that I'm hoping that my box was mixed up at the factory and they put spoiled urinal cake scent in, by mistake. Maybe trainees on the line, who worked a double shift, disgruntled and out for revenge. This can't possibly be what Tide intended to do. On purpose. smh

But yeah it is something that I REALLY hope P&G fixes soon but I have a feeling that they're going to stick with this horrible scent for a long time and not getting rid of it anytime soon. I hope I'm wrong though.

...and to think, when you mentioned up thread that you didn't care for the scent, really didn't like it...I thought to myself, darn, that's too bad. Each nose is different. Little did I know what had happened to Tide and it's scent tinkering. You must have thought we were nuts or something to be using it.

HAHA, I must admit I was quite confused as to why so many people on here favored Tide Original over the other scent variations on my Tide Scent poll earlier this year lol

Well, those results are now expired, until further notice. You must have been the first one who got the new formulation. Obviously, we all were still working with previous stock. I guess leave your box at a laundromat somewhere. I've done that with Tide pods in the Spring Meadow scent. That one was a big flop at this house.

That's a really good idea. I didn't even think about that. I think that's what I'm going to do with my unopened box of Tide w/Oxi. I bought a small box from Dollor General thinking it was going to be different than Tide Original scent wise, but just judging from the smell from the outside of the box, it's smelling dangerously close to that same offensive smell which makes me very nervous. So yeah, I think I'm going to donate it.

It is indeed SEA SEA! I am totally shocked. Yes hopefully P&G didn't "bless" this scent with their "AMAZING" scent tinkering that we've all come to love and adore :-)

Pink, I am really tempted to do so. I thought for sure this was long gone, but I'm really considering picking this one up. This would no doubt be the best smelling powder I've used so far.
