You can cut a electrical box into the waterfall and use a shallow box. It is not the perfect situation, but it is an option. You could also do pop up outlets depending on the cabinetry underneath.

Really!! Get the builder to redo this mistake they should know the codes and work with them this is IMO not on your head. BTW waterfall islands IMO only work in very contemporary spaces so while you are at it why not post a pic of the whole space . BTW you need to post some pics of the situation anyway.

Not so fast comedy-seekers. A small design flaw like missing an outlet is symptomatic of the probablilty of more serious errors. A floor plan may reveal some sadness; Patricia's suggestion is a good one. If you can't put an outlet on paper properly, what makes you think the distance from the island to the refrigerator door is adequate?

EVERY flooplan posted here reveals sadness. (try the veal and tip your waitress)

You can make drawer a tilt drawer that has an outlet along with storage.

It is a shame it has come to this. I hope you can have them add the outlet to the side easily enough. Don't take no for an answer. The shallow outlet boxes are only 1 1/4" - about the same thickness as your top!

Without knowing anything about your space, getting the electric to the island my be difficult.

They need to fix this on their dime.

This might not be the builders fault. Who designed your kitchen....that's who I would be talking to.

So much needs to be coordinated. This is why it's a good idea to use a one stop shop (or at least a KD that communicates with her or your crew) and go over the electrical with the KD, builder and electrician. Maybe the homeowner opted for the waterfall during the template. In that case, the KD and builder wouldn't know. The template guy just does what he's told.

Communication, detailed layouts, renderings and elevations with installation notes is crucial so everyone knows what's going on.

No one should ever just do as they're told. If your templater has questions or objections, ignore him at your peril.

Sometimes they just do what they're told. Just had a circumstance where the template guy asked the homeowner how much overhang they wanted. Homeowner thought from the door/drawer fronts....but overhang is from the front frame. Major miscommunication. Fabrication company said it was homeowners fault....in my eyes...it's the template guys fault...he should be more thorough in educating the homeowner....showing them....this is where it will be. I was so mad. We made it work, but I was willing to make a point on this one. I hate it when the template guys don't do their jobs.
