My basement is not finished, but it’s stubbed for a bathroom. (Is that how you say that? As you can tell, I am brand new at this!) I have two sets of questions, one about plumbing and one about layout.

Plumbing: I’ve attached a map and some photos. What are these things?

I think that the white item that is capped and sticks up about a foot (1) is for a vanity sink? Drain? Vent? There may be another, black pipe in the framed wall (so far without anything but 2x4s, pink insulation, and plastic over it. Drain? Vent?

On the middle of the back wall is a hole that appears to be covered with several layers of duct tape (2). Toilet drain? Fifteen inches from that is a wooden box built into the concrete, sticks up three inches, appears to be a foot deep, and has a pipe with more duct tape at the end (3). Someone told me “maybe that’s for the shower.”

Layout: it seems like this is set up for a basic row of vanity, toilet, tub shower combo, like in the picture with the leaf. But I want so much more! I’d like a water closet and a separate shower and tub. I want a big tub, whirlpool with a substantial surround so I can sit and swing my legs around and in, like the one in the other photo. Can it be done?

I have tons of room — I could take the room all the way out to the columns or beyond, expanding in three directions (the framed walls are the edge of the basement.) From concrete to joists above is seven foot eight inches. So...

Can this plumbing support a toilet, a sink, a giant tub, and a shower? (And maybe a kitchen sink on the other side of a wall?)

Do I have to put tub and shower on a platform or raise the floor of the whole room to make the plumbing work? Is their enough ceiling height to do that?

How would you lay this out?
