I agree about the bed skirt and headboard fabric. They're fine together. I like the way the Jiti pillow pulls everything together including the drapes.

The Jiti does have all the colors but it looks softer in my picture and a bit different on the site. Try Googling "grey and cream and gold accent pillows' or "grey and cream throw pillows", and see what you come up with.

So do we think the Garnet Hill will work as a pillow? Do you think it needs something to break it up against the headboard? And if I get it monogrammed, what colour embroidery? So many choices! Thanks again.

I love the pillow suggestions you have received (Bluenan found some really beautiful pillows!) I think rather than looking for pillows without a plan it would be helpful if you had a sense of color direction. Frequently designers start with colors and then go on the "hunt". My suggestion is that you use the Color911 app, either create you're on palette as a guide or use a color theme for inspiration. I've attached a color theme I thought might help although there are many more.. Check it out. I hope this inspires you, you're already off to a great start!!

Yes, the Garnet Hill pillow will work with the headboard. I have included two white matelasse standard sized shams, one from PB and the other Overstock. I don't really think you need to match the matelasse duvet, a mix of white on white patterns is fine and you could return them if you didn't like. I love that Chippendale pillow as well, but it's impossible to tell the color online, it's not returnable, but I looked and you can order a sample. The back is cream linen, so the pattern is not reversible. It looks like a warmer grey than the Jiti, but that might be nice.
You can go on the Garnet Hill website and play around with the colors and fonts for monogramming. I liked Mother Goose, but there again, it's hard to tell.

One more question... The matelasse shams that match my duvet coverlet are available in "king". Will king size shams fit my queen bed? Otherwise I really like the overstock diamond matelasse posted above..

Check the dimensions for a king sham versus a standard in proportion to your headboard. From what I've read it sounds like the height is the same but the length is 10" longer for a king. Flanges will add additional inches. It may be that a king will fit well within the width of you headboard, cover your bed pillows and match your duvet, a winning combination!

I like the lamps. They are a practical height for reading light.

If it is not too busy for you you might go for the overstock diamond matelasse. Enjoy! You have worked hard. :)

So I just measured my headboard. The space between the wings is 64". A king size sham is 36". If I get two, they would be 8" too wide. I think that's too much... unless they are considerably smaller when plumped?

The flanges (do they have flanges?) could overlap in the middle and like you said, they can end up smaller when stuffed and plumped. At the same time, you probably wouldn't want them to look crammed in. It's close, but hard to say without seeing them.

Try 2- European Pillow Squares (Shams) each 32" square. They will look great as you layer your bed with pillows including 2- standard pillows. Sleep well!

The room is finally coming together! I'm so excited. I'm now starting to think about what to put above the bed. Possibly a sunburst mirror? What finish would you choose? Silver or gold? I'm also thinking about hanging a light fixture over the bed. Suggestions are welcome! Thanks in advance.

Hi wickedwhite, if you get a sunburst, try to get one with a convex mirror. Even if there isn't anything interesting to reflect, the convex reflection is still interesting because of the distortion. :) this one in my living room is great because it reflects the woodwork which makes another sunburst pattern inside the mirror.
I also like the shape of the frame on this white one.

Have you decided against the possibility of nothing above the headboard and, instead, art or mirrors behind the lamps? I certainly think the sunburst will work, but I slightly prefer the behind the lamps idea. I think I see more good examples of that (with shaped upholstered headboards) when I browse Houzz pictures.

I'm late here but I thought of you when I saw this mirror on HSN.

We received some happy news yesterday. We are moving to our first home next month! I think our bedroom furniture will work in the space, but I'd love your input before I make any more decisions. Here's a peak of the room with the old owner's furniture. We will paint the walls and change the window coverings for sure.

I definitely need new window coverings. The current sheers are very dated. A new rug is also needed, and a chandelier. Paint is also a must. I am open to suggestions! Was thinking of possibly doing a feature wall in grass cloth behind the bed. But I am open to any and all suggestions.

A wall of grass cloth would be so nice behind the bed, like the Walnut-Mill Valley example you posted above! Looks like the new room is wider and will give you a more spacious wall for the bed. Now you can really thoughtfully make decisions on wallpaper, drapery and pillows, using your head board and bed skirt as a base, but with no other previous choices to work around. I still like the ideas of soft neutrals for your room. Should you start another thread for the bedroom dilemma as well?

Good idea Bluenan. I ordered two queen shams yesterday that are an exact match to my matelasse. I also ordered the Garnett hill monogram pillow. Yay! I found this chandelier tonight. Do you think it could work over the bed? Or is there not enough contrast?

I might hold off on the chandelier until you decide on the paint or wallpaper and then decide if you need contrast or not. Is it something you can buy later? The queen shams will be perfect. Did you get a monogram on the Garnet Hill pillow?!

If you like the chandelier I encourage you to hang it. Based on your previous selections, I think what ever you will choose for the walls it will go with well. Enjoy!

What about window treatments? The window is huge. 110" wide.

I encourage you to extend the rods past the window so the draperies when open extend very little into the window and they should be able to close fully. A rule of thumb is to order drapery panels 2x to 3x the width of the window. If the draperies are not sewn straight as most don't unless custom, hang the draperies so they touch the floor. Use a good quality fabric. Restoration Hardware has a pretty good selection for retail if you can afford. They also have good sales too. If you have specific suggestions I am happy to assist you. I look forward to seeing what you do with your windows!

Hi Bluenan, Yes! I got the boudoir pillow monogrammed. :) I also ordered fabric swatches in the two slate grey geometric prints you found. I might hold off on choosing the accent pillow until I get settled in the room.

The bedding will look great. Can't wait to see it all together! I like the "sets". I plan to order the matching bolster for my bedroom as soon as RH has a sale.
