Need to determine if a remote control is available for this fan

Did you look on the top and inside of the fan? If you can't get a remote for the fan, you can change the light switch to a remotable one. Of course, if the lightswitch has other stuff on the circuit, that might be an issue.

I did look on top of the fan and removed the light cover on the underside. No labeling. I cannot control the fan speed which is currently set on high

You can buy a generic remote control and receiver that fits in the canopy at the ceiling. The fan needs to be set on high, so you're good there. Do a search on that big online store, or at your local home improvement store.
