We are laying out the components that we will use in our large MBR closet. The ceiling is at 10 ft, and we plan to use double-hang areas as well as O-Boxes that will be placed down low. We plan to use 78 inch uprights, hanging from the horizontal rail that has been placed on-center at 7.5 feet. The lowest O-Box will be placed so the bottom of the O-Box is about 6 inches off the carpet. The uprights will not extend to the bottom of the lowest O-Box. (The O-Boxes attach to the uprights at the top of the O-Box.) In other words, the uprights (which are about 1 inch depth) will extend downward behind only about 2/3 of the lowest O-Box. My question: will this be a stable configuration, or do the uprights need to extend downward for the full height of the O-Box?

The reason this is an important question to us is that it will be quite a bit more expensive if we have to use the next longest upright, which is 90 inches, plus if we did that, it will mean that more of the supporting hardware (the rail and the uprights) will be plainly visible in the completed design.
