Large Euphorbia Cactus Rot

Hi there,

I’m far from a cactus expert but someone at a nursery advised to cut all of the root rot off the euphorbia we have and let it callus for months before repotting in a pumice + cactus mix. i noticed that not all of the root rot was cut off so mah still chop off the areas so it’s clean of the rot.

does anyone have any other tips? please let me know if i can do anything to save her! She’s such a beaut

It looks like it has callused and dried well from your photos, not further rot. I would leave it be and try to root it as is. If it is not soft, it is not rot.

Sounds good, thanks so much! ill leave it be so it can callus. Do you have any idea how long/at what point i should let it callus to before planting again?

Usually 1-2 weeks to callous then try to reroot. It looks like it has already calloused to me so I would try to reroot now.

I just wrote a reply and a picture of mine but will not post.

Don't water it till you see some growth and that takes a year sometimes.

The larger the cutting, the harder it takes. About 8 inch is best but go with what you got.

It's beautiful... I know this is an old post, but if you haven't gotten anywhere yet, try a mix of cinnamon and rooting hormone powder before you put in your very chunky perlite/bark/cactus soil mix.
