Might help out a slow compost but otherwise the benefit will be wasted if applied now. Wait until spring. Store somewhere dry, cool and with adequate ventilation.

Could be. Depends on how/in what it is stored and what else might be in the frig.

When I raised bunnies, I kept my alfalfa pellets - in a paper bag - inside my back door. uninsulated closet. Cool, dark, dry and with plenty of ventilation.

Now that I no longer have any bunnies, I use any alfalfa meal or pellets to make a big tub of tea that I store ready to go until I need to use.

I've always just kept it in the garage. It doesn't seem to go bad, and even if it did, I don't think the roses would notice.

In theory, it should be fine to apply now, or in a few weeks since everything is going to go into winter cold storage soon, unless it already has. Then the alfalfa will just sit until it warms up in the spring and it starts to break down.

I put mine in the fridge on the off change that a rodent got in my garage.

Ive had mine in a cooler for the same reason, but thats not ventilated.
