There are several, if not dozens of discussions on Houzz that you could read if you want to expand your knowledge of LVP flooring. We spent months studying and shopping to find the best one for us.

If I were you, I wouldn't bother looking at anything that says "12 mil". Also, we found nothing at any big box store worth the $$. Went to at least a dozen flooring stores - not really impressed, and the price was more than double per sq ft of what we ended up with.

We used SuperCore Extreme from weshipfloors.com in this color:

Please note: their website pictures of the color are not at all what it looks like installed. Could be my monitor. Read the specs - 7" wide x 5 ft. long boards, 30 mil wear layer, micro bevel.

My husband installed it in our lower level - about 750 sq ft. The walls are BM Edgecomb Gray and trim and cabinets are BM Vapor. Flooring is very neutral toned with those colors.

It's been down for about 8 months. We live on a lake with lots of sand - 6 married children, 15 grandchildren all summer long - not a single scratch yet!

VERY easy to clean, no problem with hazing (a common complaint with LVP).

Price point is excellent - they will send you free samples - they often have "free shipping". Gets delivered to your driveway & no sales tax.

What else do you want to know?

I have NO vested interest in this company, but we do love the flooring!

@Kristin Windhorst, I just looked that their website again. They have added a couple more pictures of the Asheville Extreme. The one where you see the hallway and a stairway going down is much more true to the color, also the empty room with the white wood paneling.

Their technical specs look perfect and I love the color of some of the boards but we want something we less color variation between the planks for our home (will be on main level and in bedrooms) - I would totally go for that color variation in a basement or if I lived on a lake or in the mountains!

Maybe one of these?

No, our Flooret flooring in on pallets in our garage waiting for us to finish our kitchen. We are putting it on the entire first floor of our home, not transitions. We went with Soho signature, I really like the craftsmen too.

@Steven Tucker, I will try and take a few tomorrow. They have added one or two more pictures on the website. In the picture with a kitchen island, it appears very yellowish on my monitor. The new picture where there is stairway going down, is much closer to how it looks in our house (again, on my monitor).

We did spend time mixing and matching the dark, medium and light colored planks so they blended, rather than having the color change so abruptly.

@Steven Tucker, the flooring is in our lower level walkout, which has almost all glass on the south side. Between how bright the room is, and I take terrible pictures, none of these are very true to life. It is NOT at all yellow like it appears in the 1st pic, and not washed out like the last two.

ETA: The 3rd pic is from the very back of a hallway looking into the bright sun, so again, does NOT show the color well.

At the time we needed the flooring, they only had 6 colors in the Extreme. The 5G lock was a must, so I picked this one just by process of elimination. They do have quite a few more colors now. Be sure to get lots of samples!

Kristin Windhorst, if you will look at a thread here on Houzz, Adura Max vs Cortec, you will find many photos of actual installs of SuperCore. I had SuperCore Krypton installed in a home I sold in 2020 and it turned out great. I had moved before the install, but do know that it’s easy upkeep. My new construction home has SuperCore Elkhorn floors, and I love them. The planks are 7” wide and 60” long. My flooring has a micro bevel that I can’t even see. Both of my choices would be too rustic for you, but I love them. There are many choices of color and style in SuperCore. Oak Natural is a pretty hardwood look with little contrast between planks, Gunstock is a darker choice, and there are many others.

WeShipFloors.com has a great website with good info on SuperCore. Barbara and Zoe were so helpful to me with both floors. They sent numerous samples and answered my many questions. The phone number is on the website if you have questions.

Good luck on your flooring search. If you decide on SuperCore I don’t think you will be sorry.

@Mary Elizabeth what do you use to clean your floors? Is Asheville light or warm in your home?

@Fran Guerin, just a little Mr. Clean in warm water. Never had spotting, but that might depend more on the mineral content of the water. (We have filters, and a softner.)

The Asheville Xtreme is warm, and not really light or dark, just medium.

Our room gets so much light, I can't get a good picture without glare. The picture of Asheville on their website (with the stairway going down) is the closest to what the color is in real life.

Also, we staggered ours so there were no single dark boards in the middle of light ones, or vice versa. Just more of a gradual shading throughout.

Kristin, what did you end up going with. I have the same criteria and can't seem to find anything. It's so stressful.

We ended up going with Coretec in Springfield oak - it only comes in 4’ planks but we ultimately realized that we don’t have a huge open concept home so with some area rugs, there would be very few places we would really realize the benefit of the longer plank. We love how it turned out!

Kristin we are considering the Coretec Pro-Plus Springfield for our lower level finish. So hard to assess the shade variation from Coretec pics.
Would you say the Springfield has much shade variation?
