Which Bryant furnace?

I'm trying to determine which Bryant gas furnace to match for installation with a Bryant Preferred single stage AC model 126CNA, 16 SEER.
Would a Bryant Legacy fixed-speed gas furnace be acceptable, or should I focus on the variable-speed furnaces in the Preferred or Evolution series? Not sure if it would be important to get a variable speed furnace if have a single stage 16 SEER AC unit. If you have insights on this to help me decide, I would love to hear. Thanks.

The Legacy models are the low end of the Bryant furnace models. The build quality and features are not as good as the Preferred and Evolution series. I suggest if the budget allows you select a Preferred series furnace to match your Preferred 126CNA furnace.

Your variable speed furnace question is a very good one. The single stage Preferred series is marketed as a variable speed furnace. That is a deceiving label in my opinion. It is really a multi-speed furnace. That means the blower motor can be set to one of several speeds for heating, and another speed for cooling. The two speeds are selected at the time on installation and do not vary. That should be fine for the condenser you have considering.

Be aware that the 126CNA condenser is advertised as "up to 17 SEER". The SEER rating of the AC system is based on the selected furnace, condenser and its size, and the coil. The components have to be an approved match come with a SEER and EER rating.
