Master bedroom pink

Hi I am looking to paint my master bedroom a pink color. Any suggestions how to make it look mature and not like a girls bedroom? Thinking off white/cream beds and furniture but would love other ideas of what can go well with the pink color.

By pink, do you mean a color that screams pink or a white that has a pink tone? DD1, who is in her late 30s loves F&B Slipper Satin for a soft hint of pink. Her bedding and upholstered chairs are white (not stark white) and she had a custom bed made with floral fabric.

If you’re looking for a very subtle pale pink, you could try BM Fondant (AF-255). I have it in my office and it provides just a hint of pink.

I was thinking more of a color.

Is this too much or can I style the room in a way it can

That is a lot of pink for me, but it is not my house. With the white bedding, etc what else do you plan on having in the room and what in style? Does this blend with the rest of your house? Not necessarily pink-wise, but loud colors?

Colors magnify with the quantity of space, so what looks pink on the sample will be much pinker, much brighter when you paint 400-500 sf of wall.

People often don't see any pink in a neutral or white till they paint the whole room, then come back and say "MY WALLS ARE PINK!"

I think you may be overwhelmed by this pink

and may be happier with something a bit more subtle

Your probably right! So I'll need a neutral. Something romantic and mature looking...any color ideas?:)

Benjamin Moore Opal is a fantastic soft pink. I used it in a bathroom long ago and currently my bedroom is this color. Just a hint of pink. Looks fabulous with white and cream.

I do like color, so I'd want something with a bit more character...maybe a dusty pink.

I'm intrigued by the idea of a pink master bedroom -- but when I tried to google some examples, I didn't like most of the things I saw. I think it's very possible to do a great room, but you must proceed with caution. Things I found:

As some others said, a little pink can go a long way -- I like this pale pink on the walls. I think the strong wooden floor is anchoring this color /keeping it from being too much. Note the pink chair too.

I saw lots of gold paired with pinks -- lots of variations of this round gold mirror. I like it. Lots of white pairs with pink too. I think this brighter pink would be "too much", if it weren't broken up by the accent wall.

This is a nursery and a pink probably more vibrant than you want, but I'm throwing it out as an example of white on 2/3 of the wall and pink on the top. This gives you a strong stripe of color ... without it being over-the-top.

Similar thought: pink on the ceiling.

This one appeals to me -- it's cottage-y looking. White walls and a barely-pink dresser. I think the greenery and textured basket really play into the success of this layout. Not at all childish.

    Pink in a rug.

I really like pink paired with navy blue -- but it can be too dark -- it needs the relief of some white.

Just one wall in pink + linens in pink works. I personally don't go for this dusky pink /would prefer more of a clear tone, but it's an example of just how many shades are available to you.

A whole different thought: pink is a strong color, and a solid pink can overwhelm. What about a print -- many options exist, but I do like this one.

Two important thoughts here: An accent wall can be "enough" without overwhelming. And note how the strong bed color anchors the room /keeps the color from being "too sweet".

Last thought -- what about pink doors?

Look at a print or wallpaper you like w pink in it. Colors like rust or brown, tan play nice w blush. I'd go for a pink w black in it like...I think it's called Dead Salmon from Farrow and Ball

There was a recent conversation on the Conversations side that might provide some inspiration:

I like pink with gray, pink with navy, and pink with brown (I'm especially fond of pink with a light brown the color of chocolate milk).

What color or shade of pink looks good on you? Some people can wear salmon and look beautiful, others look better in cleaner brighter pinks, some look better in the coral pinks and other in the purplish pinks. Your bedroom should envelop you in colors that make you feel beautiful.

These are the pinks that I imagine, though they might be too moody for you. The last one is probably more your style (which obviously isn’t a bedroom, but just the look)

I like the idea of lots of shades of pink accents throughout your bedroom and use the palest of pink on the walls.

Sossia, Post photos of pink rooms you like or photos of pink items you are drawn to. Otherwise comments cannot be narrowed down more.

Sossia, which of the pinks that Marylee H posted do you like best? If you tell us, you will probably get suggestions about how to use that pink to create a stylish bedroom.

This page helps define colors in groupings that allow you to actually describe the colors you love.

    http://www.andrewwerth.com/color/

You simply click on the color wheel below to see the hue family and then the chart above shows you different colors at different levels of light and value (colorful vs gray) for that hue family. It is based on the Muncell color system.

Clicking on a color in the chart will make another box display this information:

    2.5RP 9/6
    rgb(255, 213, 241)
    #ffd5f1

No one needs to interpret what it means when you say you like pink, not purple and not orange. We know it is this specific color pink.

From there we can help pick paint colors that will work well with the pink and be something that is in the same hue family. Again, because walls are such large spaces, you will want to go softer than the color displayed to get the effect of that color.
