I have to say mine looked the same and they have a couple I could not find anywhere else. Baron Girod de l'Ain seems like a great purchase, but mine is so new (Nov) that it looks like it is just sitting, but I am guessing it is making roots so it will shoot up in spring.

@ann beck 8a ruralish WA I've never heard of this nursery. What did you order from them? As Matt said, I really don't know how to use their website. No rose in HT catalogue. Hmm...

@Feiy (PNWZ8b/9a) open their site and just keep scrolling down to the bottom of the page. Their limited selection of roses will all be shown on that initial page. You will see a couple of canna lilies and 4" succulents, a limited number of HTs and the HP already mentioned but nothing really rare, other than Baron Girod de l'Ain. I found this place while driving around the area a few summers ago when I had to be in Bakersfield for the day.

Thank you, Kim. I managed to find out the "shop roses" in small character on their page to see all the roses they sell. Hope they'll add more varieties soon.

@Feiy (PNWZ8b/9a) you're welcome. Don't hold your breath. This is one of two web sites they have had over the past at least five years. These are the same roses they have propagated, advertised and sold over that same period. It was surprising that they had begun shipping as they previously didn't. They would propagate own root or budded and provide local outlets with bud and bloom plants. I don't know if Orlando and his mother still own and operate the place or not. He had taken over after his father passed. There were only the two of them with three other workers operating the place.

Any idea why they keep changing websites?

It isn't really "keep changing". It's more like wiser use of marketing dollars. The earlier one appeared to be their first. Golden Valley appears to be the second and Ma Cherie seems to be the latest. Like growing and a learning process permitted by an increased budget. At least, that's what it appears to me.

Is it ok to plant one now?

I wanted to get Ingrid Bergman and the included shipping looks to be USPS Expedited (2-3 days).

I ordered from both places 2 years apart. Both orders were nicely done. The second time, I ordered from both sites and hoped they would be shipped together. (Silly me...I should have contacted them.) Their website don't coordinate and due to placing both orders, they thought it was a duplicate and one rose was sold out. I contacted them (Orlando answered) and refunded my money and gave me an estimate of when they would have more. Great customer service!!!

The Ma Charie website works well on both of my browsers, but Golden Valley Ranch only works ok on one of my browsers. I found that they often renewed their stock. If I wanted own root, bigger plant, they have the very best deal with free shipping. They also have Janye Austin, which by reports does very well in the PNW. (She was the one that was sold out.)

Mine shipped thursday and was out for delivery today.

Granted this was only 1 rose and ive only ever ordered from 5 or 6 different vendors.

I would order again. took less than 10 min to unpack, plant, and water.
